This album is compiled by by ‘A friend of mine’ aka A.F.O.M. International & supported by @Sameheads Berlin to raise funds for the survivors of the February 2023 earthquakes in South East Turkey/Syria and to provide some sonic experiences to the mere listeners.

Thanks to the generosity of all participating artists and the contributors, 100% of the income, generated from the sales of this album and the tracks within will be donated to Angel's Farm Sanctuary which operate at the affected area to restore life and hope.   Turkey and Syria were struck by two massive earthquakes of Mw 7,8 and Mw 7,6 on 6th of February 2023. Being one of the deadliest natural disasters in modern history, the earthquakes affected 11 cities in the region, with a death toll reaching more than 57.000, more than 110.000 injured and over 500.000 buildings being collapsed or heavily damaged. Urgent support for the rescue and relief efforts brought to the area, included 60,000-strong search-and- rescue forces, 5,000 health workers, 30,000 volunteers, and more than 141,000 people from 94 countries. This followed by numerous wide-ranging fund-raising campaigns with donations from companies, institutions, organizations, and individuals.  However, with an estimated damage over US$110 billion, it is obvious that the recovery process for the region and the victims will be lengthy.  

As the dust settles and the buzz slowly dissolves 8 months after this disastrous incident, we believe that it is the right time for releasing this compilation, not only to raise funds for the ones in need, but also to raise the fading awareness about the situation in trhe region of Sout-east Turkey and Syria.

SOURCE DIRECT X METHOD MAN & REDMAN - Tear It Off (Benedikt Frey VIP Mix)

All those spirits, those walks of life, all those sound journeys between worlds, between continents. Australian duo KXB is back at R.i.O., bringing a follow up to their first record “Areas of Uncertainty”, released in 2023. This time an exquisite collab. With filmmaker and vocalist Thrush, member of the feverish band Concentration. The duo from Melbourne, and the singer from Berlin bring a collection of tracks, dubs and versions - written and produced over the last two years with the tape format in mind. Inspired by fabled underground cassette labels like New Zealand-based late 1980ees/ early 1990ees sensation Xpressway and mixed continuously as a nod to 90s jungle bootleg mixtapes like the Yaman tapes by LTJ Bukem, DJ Hype, Randall, or Peshay. Distinctive vocalist Thrush travelled South, and spent two sweltering afternoons with KXB in Melbourne, doing free-spirited improvisations in the studio, that were later pieced together into the resulting album. 13 variations in sound, in which Thrush's lyrics explore chasmic spaces and energies common to both Germany and Australia. Her voice dances partly on trip hopping rhythms and indie-tronics, while technoid vibes, alternative house zones, and vivid trips into kosmische top the collaboration off. A piece of art formed by a clique of like-minded souls – gathered their walks of life between worlds into explorer music of unexplored districts.

This selection of Acid, Electro, and Italo Disco remixes of old and obscure gems transports you into a distinctive side of Labret’s musical universe, one of cyborg bats dropping acidic guano on politicians, abandoned factories inhabited by grimy urban cryptids, and floating Mayan pyramids beneath a stormy, menacing night sky.

There is a fine line between the concepts of Edit and Remix on these tracks. Although the original audio elements were preserved and used as a foundation, Pierre has completely reinterpreted most of them by adding his own synthesizers and drum machines, creating a new meat carcass over the original skeleton.
The result is a collection of enhanced, radioactive mutant versions of the originals.

The release opens with an Edit of a track by late industrial artist and Palestine activist Muslimgauze.
Symbolically, the release will be out on June 17th, Bryn Jones’ birthday.
As always, all edits are available for free, but any support is welcome, as contributions from Edits will be donated to an organization supporting children in Gaza.

Новый сет продолжает линию: тягучая, разножанровая музыка становится метафорой того, как из распада рождается жизнь, как в болоте шумов и полутонов пробиваются хрупкие цветы. Здесь звуковая ткань балансирует между экспериментальной электроникой и даунтемпо, впитывая элементы эмбиента, IDM и трип-хопа. В этом переплетении возникает новое звучание — и новое ощущение мира.

This mix continues the series that began with Jeddah. The first set, Burning Peatland, evoked a scent familiar to every Yekaterinburg native: seemingly harmless, slightly anxious, at times even sweet — yet in truth a harbinger of a slow-moving forest catastrophe. The second mix was broadcast on Mutant Radio within Olta Karawane’s Druga Liga.

Now I stand alone, with a somewhat brighter sense of sound. This new set follows the same line: viscous, cross-genre music becomes a metaphor for how life emerges from decay, how fragile flowers break through the swamp of noise and half-tones. The sonic fabric here balances between experimental electronics and downtempo, absorbing elements of ambient, IDM, and trip-hop. Out of this weave a new resonance arises — and with it, a renewed perception of the world.

The Cobra extends its skin to welcome Benedikt Frey and Yu Su to Thailand's Siamese Twin Records family.
Today we are excited to premiere the Space Cat Re-interpretation from the German producer, DJ, and founder of the Love Pain Sunshine & Rain Label, Benedikt Frey. Well known for his fearless production, Frey masterfully reworks the relatively straightforward Mogambo's Matum, released on Cobra EP in September 2020, into a dubby sci-fi-esque wormhole. Bit-by-bit re-creating a technogenic ambition of launching cosmic troopers cats to conquer outer space, Frey transforms the original track into a beautiful and trippy multi-dimensional collage inspired by the tribal leftfield sounds.

Benedikt Frey is many. Or just one? He is a composer. An arranger. A DJ. A Liveact. A ghost producer. A fan. He also plays in bands like INIT, or Dolphins or KEYS +++ produced the last two albums for Chris Imler. Downbeat in experimental dub zones. The goat for Edits and remixes. When house was his nation, he used to listen to pen names like Suedmilch or Venedikt Reyf. He still likes the music formed under their umbrella, but today his tomorrow is not echoed in yesterday. His sound signature moved on. Into the open. He founded labels like R.i.O. or Serious Trouble. 

He lives in Berlin. Physically. In mind Benedikt Frey is at many places. Traveling far thru his home studio that is a flat a studio a flat an instrument a record collection a flat a studio. Everywhere gear, vinyl, tapes, instruments, rooms for spontaneous sonic notions, these moments, when a sudden strike of stimulation falls. He is inspired a lot. For music to dance. Music for films. Music for live shows. Music for dancing glows. Techno, house, downbeat, ambient, jungle, electronics outside the norms. Those transportive ones. Jamming with others. Jamming with his mind. In Berlin Wedding, North of the town, where the lights dimmed low, neighbors share the flow, and a small river runs slow.  As a DJ he plays here, there, everywhere. Big clubs, small shacks, festivals, gatherings. From fast to 90 BPM - as he feels. 

For himself. For the crowd. In the spur. He still remembers his club kid days. Going to dance with friends. Down there in Offenbach. Doing the Robert Johnson. Collective emotions for a better tomorrow. These he still seeks. In his music. His shows. His collaborations. You can book him for a party. For enlightenment. For ecstasy or introspective perspectives. Dancing slow, whilst pirouetting a high-pitched show. 

Since more than a decade. His own music is out there, too. Bringing his spirits in sound. On his own labels. On international imprints like ESP Institute, Hivern Discs, Craigie Knowes, or Emotional Response. Solo works. Driving ones. Slow drills. Teased during his DJ dates around the planet. 

The music plays day and night. Inspiration comes. From a simple kick drum. A movie sequence. A bird on the sill. A picture, totally still. Can’t kick that feeling when it hits. Benedikt Frey. In dreams. In streams. In music. Emotions. Situations. At night. In those flashy lights, when it bites.
