It's been a while since I uploaded a set on my Souncloud page. Last year I was quite busy with the start of my master’s program and took some time for other things during the lockdown (such as finally read more!  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). In the last weeks I got back to music stuff and tried to record a classic Darko-Set, which I probably would have played live in a similar way. I really hope you enjoy the journey and that it can conjure up a bit of festival and club feeling in your living room.

I'm excited to see what will happen this year, and hope that we all don't lose sight of the beautiful enjoyable things around us, that we can be damn thankful for every day. Even if, at the same time, I can understand very well, that a lot of frustration and gloom has spread in a lot of us. These are strange times and many things are unfortunately so unfair, and yet, somehow I also believe that there are beautiful sides in all the things that happen, too. 
I like to have this sentence in my mind: It’s always a question of perspective. <3

Frida Darko @ Home - Darko Lockdown Set 2021

Eins. Aus der Ferne schweben bekannte Melodien an unsere gespitzten Ohren heran, locken uns in ihre Mitte. Zwei. Wir blicken uns um, ringsum strahlende Wesen, die den Rhythmus mit jedem Stampfen vorantreiben. Drei. Die Flasche in unserer Hand kühl, die Luft zwischen den wabernden Körpern angenehm erfüllt. Vier. Wir atmen, mit jedem Zug mehr des flirrenden Lebens um uns ein. Fünf. Lächelnd betrachten wir die aufsteigende Wärme tief drin, geben uns ihr im Vertrauen hin. Sechs. Der Körper setzt ein, lässt sich treiben und wir vernehmen, wie sich unser Fell im Nacken glücklich aufstellt. Sieben. Augen zu und durch..geschwungen, bis zum Morgen.

Wooooow, people 🤯❤️😍 - what an outstanding experience playing at fusion festival for the first time! We proudly present the very first recording of a bassara live set! It's as raw and pure as our gig was - with a glitch here and there, but straight from the heart :)We had a lot of fun playing - and to see the dubstation packed with all of your smiling faces made us sooo happy.
Thanks to all the people dancing, shouting and feeling the groove with us at the dubstation! And thank you, Kulturkosmos, for making this great festival happen and inviting us for performing our second-ever live set.

Recorded at 60°C and almost 100% air humidity the set of Ponyhof Ultras at Rummels Bucht’s final goodbye was a physical borderline experience for everyone involved. Towel consumption at record level. No actual ponies where harmed during the making of this set.

Viel Spaß mit unserem Set von Miras Geburtstag im Heinz Hopper! Ein sehr großes Dankeschön an alle Pfötchen die getanzt haben und großes Danke auch an Mira für die Einladung dort zu spielen. Wir sind immer noch unbeschreiblich gerührt von der magischen Energie auf dem Floor. Danke fürs Mitschwingen und Mitsingen. Soooooooo, here it is: my 4h Katerset. What a freaking milestone. At somepoint in the middle of the set I looked around and realised what was really happening around me. People dancing, yelling, hugging each other, kissing - everything to my musicselection and at this crazy location. @kater_blau, the place so many storys are told about. I guess you could've read it of my face, how overwhelmed I was. I just had this biiiiiiig grin on my face looking like a very happy Honigkuchenpferd. 

Again thanks to all the dancers who made this experience so unique. And of course thanks to the booking  and the people working at Kater for making my stay so enojoyable. KLEINE GESCHICHTE:

imagine you started djing about 1,5yrs ago because of a pretty selfish reason: you just wanted to be part of a beautiful festival summer but simply just could not because of a broken leg. the solution: change the dancefloor against the dj booth. yes, it is possible to spin records while sitting (with an itchy cast) on a dark green velvet sofa in front of your smiling and dancing friends. and you know what? it is the most beautiful feeling i have ever had :) 

imagine spending every single minute with practicing, digging music and creating sets. imagine working fulltime in a regular job but also fulltime on the weekends behind the decks. imagine finding a hobby that gives you nothing but love and joy. imagine turning that hobby into a passion.

imagine being super insecure even though you already have a lot of bookings. imagine being full of doubts every time you hit the play button. 

imagine you suddenly get a mail. PING. the mail is from @mira_kater. it is your first booking at kater blau. the place you loved so much since ever. the place you feel like home and identify with. the booking you have dreamt about since the beginning.

and then imagine you have to go there alone because all of your friends are at a festival at your hometown. the festival you built all together. the festival that means family to you. imagine switching your playtime and leaving your friends at the peaktime to catch your train in the morning to go to berlin nearly without any sleep. 7 hours of loneliness, 7 hours to get nervous like hell. 7 hours to prepare your set. imagine arriving at berlin super happy and super sad at once. 

yes, i was full of doubts again when i hit the play button at my beloved hopper floor. i missed my friends. i was afraid to fail. but suddenly everything changed. i changed. i changed my playlist and i changed my mindset. and that changed everything.  

i realized how fucking blessed i am. i realized that i am just so honored to warm up the floor for mira. i realized that i got booked for such a big event as a newcomer. i realized kater opened its doors for fresh faces and i am one of them. 

and then i realized my little brother who came to see me playing for the first time. i realized one of my oldest friends who came to cheer me up even though she usually does not listen to that kind of music. i realized one of my newest friends who came all the way from freiburg just to support me. i realized another good friend  who danced like there is no tomorrow even though i opened a completely empty dancefloor. and then i realized all these strangers who started to fill the floor even though the sun was shining outside and a lot of headliners were playing at the same time. 

family, friends, strangers, me - we danced and smiled together. and i got so so happy :) i played just how i felt. i played a looot of my fav bar25 and katermukke hits. this is the result. i hope you like it.
