If angels appear in human form then I definitely met one. She is an old wise woman with a beautiful and unique character. She knows me since I was born. Through a very tough time, we would often sit together and pray. These lyrics describe my experience of one of those prayers/meditations I shared with her.

Growing up in a Christian community with a very clear (and sometimes confining) picture of God and then later experiencing different forms and devotions for the unexplainable around us made me open up more and more to the universal God in everything. This songs combines samples of the Christian choir at my home community and the prayers of the Aarati, practiced at a Hindu community. It is my call to remind us that in the end it is all the same we are seeking for, God is in everything, and everything is God.

8. How Does It Feel?

I used to live in a spiritual community in the alps in Switzerland. Various ceremonies take place in their temple, most of them are Hindu. One time I had the chance to ask questions to the Pujari (temple servant) about the spiritual meanings behind their traditions. She explained to me that bowing in front of the altar is as if you bow to yourself because all the different Hinduism goddesses represent different parts within you. If you bow to them, you bow to all parts within you. Also, the act of bowing includes that the heart is physically placed over the mind for a few seconds. This became an important reminder.

Fully embracing melancholy that finds its climax in pure chaos and waves of pain within. Facing the battle and eventually having to allow rest because the exhaustion forces oneself to do so. Surrendering makes oneself see the beauty in the pain and the realizations that lay behind. It´s time to move on.

These lyrics were written years ago from a very intuitive place without a clear intention. Now, after experiencing my first deep psychedelic journey, these simple words have a completely new yet familiar meaning. We are reminded that we are so much more than this, than this body, this reality. We can allow ourselves to step out of it, gain perspective and be reminded what this is all about.

3. Alles Auf Einmal

After a breakdown, a therapist recommended talking to my mum if I might have some trauma from my early childhood that I can’t remember. I did, and found out that my mum was dealing with a depressive phase while she was pregnant with me. She also told me that I might carry some trauma from a surgery when I was around one year old. My mum blacked out when the doctor gave me a huge injection, exactly in that moment when I needed her the most.

I could already feel that something there was odd
Probably in that time, in the 1990s
children in hospitals, treated without any ease
she said she held me tight, was by my side, while I cried
while that curly little girl cried

And yes, I just don’t know now
whether that was important somehow
wow, I know so little about the time my consciousness wasn’t fully there
the only thing I know is, that my body saved everything,
while my mind was trying not to care
And then she is talking about the pregnancy
about the time where she did not feel free
she said the words: `depressive phase`
yes she said she was quite low
in the wintertime, it was ok but a tough time though
that old woman was too close, she couldn’t grow
mum never thought about giving up as I did, no
but that´s what google says: 10 % as the hormonal souvenir from mum
