Vast Error Vol. 4 (incomplete)

Yes it's meant to sound like this.

I've been on a big Naked Flames kick lately, and so I wanted to make a lo-bit EDM track in the vein of his recent albums. A 40-second sketch turned into a 6 and a half minute rager. Hope you all enjoy and the sound doesn't weird you out too much. This will be on a future Vast Error album so stay tuned for that!

Bomb Threat [Collab w/ Ucklin/Kal-la-kal-la]

To kick off the new year, here's an old track of mine that I never put on Soundcloud until now! This is a remix I did back in 2019 of vaporwave giant Nmesh's 9-minute drum-n-bass monolith "Mall Full of Drugs". He released the stems for the song to the public and put his favorite takes in a compilation album, "Drug Full of Remixes". My submission made the cut and opens the B side! It was a lot of fun to remix a track of one of my favorite artists, and to have it be officially acknowledged.

The remix itself is a fair bit weirder than my usual work. I crossed over into a lot of different genres (maybe not all as expertly as I'd like) and pushed my sampling expertise to the limit. I wanted to add in some irreverent Internet-era sampling to complement Nmesh's more classical TV spots: there's Here Comes Pac-Man, Spongebob YTPs, and Undertale animations! The end result ends up feeling like a cross between a Vektroid and a Cyriak track, in my opinion; not a bad outcome. I'm still proud of this one, and I hope you all enjoy it too.

Ghost in the Mall

For my next trick, a "one-note" symphony inspired by the nature of Vast Error's solitary universe. It's gone through many cycles with many inhabitants, all playing the same Game in pursuit of a new beginning — while striving to avoid "perfection." It's a cycle that you can chart in the sky.  Let's say you were to take a picture of the sun at the same place on Earth, at the same time, every day of the year for a year. The sun would make a lopsided figure-eight pattern — an analemma.

And yes, I made this one in Audacity too.

The craters are all rounded off. There's quite a few of them, some of them are newer.
Many of them look like, especially the round ones, look like hits by meteorites or projectiles of some sort.

The sequel to "Home" none of us four were sure we would make initially has finally come to fruition after ages of work! Stuck is track 32 of the new UMSPAF album "Land of Fans and Music 5 Act 2". It's a counterpart to Home, just as long as that song. (In fact, you can listen to both songs combined as a bonus track on LOFAM5.2!) While Grace wrote Home and I did most of the production, Stuck is really Grace's baby. Most of the writing and production you hear is fabulously hers, while I filled in some of the gaps. MINES and Ucklin contribute their wonderful vocals, without which the song wouldn't shine as it does.

Just as much as Home, if not moreso, this song was a team effort. Four years' worth of improvement has manifested into this ode to fan music, MTAHK, Homestuck, and all the little things. Thank you for listening.

This was from Months Ago, it's the very first thing I've made for VE. Also it's some testing on certain synth that somehow renders in quite a problematic way. I prefer how this sounds though!
