Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this edition we welcome @friendsofhannes

A young DJ and producer duo based in Munich and Berlin. Their impulsive psychedelic downtempo sound is mainly inspired by different elements of techno, house and psytrance. The characteristic rolling baselines, lush arps and organic percussive elements complement each other, creating a technoid flow with unique soundscapes. 

They met during studies and initially shared the same passion for different kind of music ranging from electronica to reggae. With Friends of Hannes, they started the musical journey together, exploring new progressive ideas and fantasies of floating thumping basses. Now, their spaceship started moving into the darker deep space, visiting distant galaxies to discover extraterrestrial sounds for you to enjoy: Deep Space Techno.

The rāga saga is a series that acts as a cultural collectiva of our favourite artists from all over, Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "colour the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience and this journey (raga) comes from the this powerful duo @friendsofhannes

At first they lived on earth, walking around like robots, seeing nothing, hearing nothing, feeling nothing. But one day a miracle happened, rhythms opened their eyes, they began to see more and more. Suddenly nothing was impossible, hovering, flying, they broke the sound barrier - and suddenly, without knowing it, they shot into the vastness of space. Now they hear colours, explore wild galaxies, notes dance through the eternally dark, airless night. They survive, on and on, fantasies of driving, thumping bass around them, and eventually they have found their own enchanted world.

Friends of Hannes is a German DJ and producer duo based in Munich and Berlin. Their music is inspired by different elements of techno, house and downtempo, resulting in an impulsive vibe with driving baselines, natural percussion and psychedelic rhythms. Friends of Hannes released their first EP "Cosmic Waves" in 2020, which was followed by different productions released on labels such as Kosa Records, Emerald & Doreen Records, Sujet Muisque and Magician on Duty. Peter & Max met during their studies in Munich and share the same love for electronic music. Now at their mid-twenties, they started their journey exploring progressive new melodies, fantasies of floating thumping basses, notes dancing through the nights. DeepSpace.

Freunde der Freuden 

Das menschliche Dasein bietet eine schier unendliche Vielzahl von Angeboten zum rauschhaften Vergnügen. Die Möglichkeiten sich mit einer extra Portion Glückshormonen zu versorgen sind sehr breitgefächert und weniger individuell, als man im ersten Moment annehmen könnte. In unseren Breitengraden erfreut sich fast jeder an einem Stück Schokolade, auch Koffein in Form von Kaffee oder Tee gehört ebenfalls für viele zum Alltag. Für andere ist es das Nikotin am morgen oder das Bier nach dem Feierabend, welches die Laune anhebt und den Geist mehr oder minder stimuliert. Neben diesen eher unauffälligen Helferlein gibt es ein ganzes Sammelsurium an Substanzen, welche beim Menschen bewusstseinsverändernde Rauschzustände auslösen können. Je nach Art und Beschaffenheit wirken sich solche Mittel ganz unterschiedlich auf die Physis und Psyche aus. Resultat ist in jedem Fall ein veränderter Bewusstseinszustand. Rausch ist seit Anbeginn der dokumentierten Geschichte ein elementarer Bestandteil des Lebens. Jede Kultur hat für sich Möglichkeiten entdeckt oder kultiviert, dass Alltagsbewusstsein zu verlassen und in andere Sphären des Daseins einzutauchen. Die Akzeptanz dieser Tatsache ist ein erster und wichtiger Schritt zur Heilung und Aussöhnung mit der menschlichen Natur. 

Der Podcast von Friends of Hannes ist definitiv Festivalverdächtig. Schwoffige Vibes werden mit groovigen Rhythmen und verspielten Melodien kombiniert. Das gesamte Set klingt wie ein Guss und geht den musikalischen Gaumen herunter wie geschmolzene Butter. Sphären der Schallwellen

Das Universum des Rhythmus, der Melodien und der Resonanz bietet einen faszinierenden Spielplatz für auditive Entdeckungsreisen. Mit jeder Note, jedem Beat, jedem Loop entsteht ein neues Mosaik der Emotionen, das uns in einen unbeschreiblichen Zustand des Hochgefühls versetzt. Es ist die Musik, die uns ermöglicht, den Alltag zu transzendieren und uns auf eine Reise durch unbekannte Dimensionen der Klanglandschaft zu begeben.

Letztes Wochenende war eine solche Reise. Mit der Schönheit der Abenddämmerung als Kompass, haben wir die Sterne im Himmel der Musik erreicht. Die Melodien waren wie Wellen, die am Ufer der Ekstase brechen. Ein Tanz zwischen Realität und Traum, zwischen Hier und Jetzt, zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft.

Wir hoffen, dass ihr diese Reise genossen habt, und dass diese Klangwelten in euren Herzen weiterleben. Wir sind dankbar für die Möglichkeit, unsere Kunst mit euch zu teilen und wünschen euch nun beste Unterhaltung <3

Spheres of Sound Waves

The universe of rhythm, melodies, and resonance offers a fascinating playground for auditory explorations. With each note, each beat, each loop, a new mosaic of emotions emerges, catapulting us into an indescribable state of elation. It's music that enables us to transcend the mundane and embark on a journey through uncharted dimensions of the soundscape.

Last weekend marked such a journey. With the beauty of twilight as our compass, we reached for the stars in the sky of music. The melodies were like waves breaking on the shores of ecstasy. A dance between reality and dream, between the here and now, between past and future.

We hope that you enjoyed this journey and that these sonic worlds continue to live on in your hearts. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our art with you and now wish you the very best of entertainment <3.

@ 5 Goldene Raver Festival - 10.06.23

There once was a little witch who was standing under a very tall tree. With her sweet voice she was singing a song for her friend the sloth, who was hanging on a branch near the top of the tree. They had become friends a few years earlier, when she saved his life (witches are the protectors of all animals of the forest, and this starts from a tender age). The little girl had a burning desire to talk to her friend, but that was never possible because the tree was too tall to climb. So this ritual went on for years, day after day.
Meanwhile the young witch was growing taller and stronger and one day she found the courage to start climbing the tree. To her great surprise that went very well and a few minutes later she was already halfway. Then she looked down. Immediately a fear gripped her and her body froze. Her heartbeat was racing and she was too afraid to go up or down. She was completely stuck. Then she looked at her friend the sloth. He smiled and whispered calmly ‘You can do it, girl’.
Instantly, the witch felt the tension disappear from her body. She climbed with the agility of a squirrel all the way to her friend, who gave her a big hug when they were finally reunited. For the rest of the day they stayed together on a branch high up in the canopy of the tree, talking to each other and at other moments just enjoying each other’s company in silence. She had boundless admiration for his endless patience, and he had a deep appreciation for her youthful energy and unconditional love for the forest.
All of a sudden, the branch broke off without warning. Both were plunging down to a certain death. All the little witch could do was scream and clutch the branch with both hands while it fell down. And then something miraculous happened. 
The branch started to float in the air, the sloth still hanging on it and the witch still sitting on it while clutching it firmly with both her hands. The little girl still couldn’t figure out what was happening. Witches actually never learn to fly on a broom. They just know it by instinct, once if they have come of age. The sloth whispered ‘This branch is now your broom. It has chosen you. And from now on, you’re a real witch’…
The witch brought the sloth back to his perch high up in the tree and from that day she would simply fly on her broom to visit her friend every day…
