Mongrando, Italy’s Kreggo has been releasing his unique twist on contemporary electronic sounds via the likes of Lobster Theremin, 10 Pills Mate, ARTS, Infinite Machine, Return To Disorder and Serotonin over the years as well as heading up his own art-aud imprint which traverses through styles ranging from downtempo to dancehall, breaks, bass and more. Here with his latest EP for Italy’s Nottetempo he once again allows all of his musical influences to shine through across the five-track ‘Rally della Lana’ EP.

‘Rising High’ sets the tone with ethereal chords, wandering bass tones, squelchy acid licks and modulating percussion before ‘Talking Stars Cabin’ lays down bumpy syncopated rhythms, oscillating synth tones and dynamic atmospherics.
‘Mcshea’ follows to open the B-side and shifts focus over to skippy, jazzy-tinged drums, murky bass drones and shimmering resonant tones. ‘Small Town Girl’ is up next and embraces a liquid D&B feel via amen breaks, elongated subs, and soft textural pads before ‘Soundtrack For A Film That Doesn’t Exist Yet’ rounds out the release on ambient tip, laid out across four minutes with slowly unfurling synth sequence and vacillating low-end tones.

The computer screen stared back at her; as blank as it was when she started a few days ago. Inspiration just wasn't coming at the moment, her head was empty of thoughts, she couldn't even muster up a sentence. Each morning, in her sleep deprived state, she'd give herself a mental pep talk - today was going to be the day it would flow... But they didn't seem to work and now she'd got herself in too deep; it had become a task in itself to unglue her eyes from the screen. She had to prize herself away, at least just for a moment, perhaps then the answers she was searching for would finally become clear.

For Those That Knoe's mission has been the same for its near decade-long operation. Dedicated to shining a light on obscure and under-the-radar artists of recent past, the Boe Recordings sub-label has helped to revive music that hasn't gotten its due recognition first time round. For their next release, rather than looking to the past, they hone in on a contemporary artist who has been bubbling below the surface in his home of Slovenia.

Vid Papez, AKA Vid Vai, joins the label for his debut LP Laminar Flow: a collection of tracks that tip the hat to early 90s IDM, UK bleep and breakbeat. His classically trained background - he plays violin, lute and guitar - comes through in each track's composition. They're precise, intricate and flow like water.

There's a buzz building around Australia’s Featherstone and his debut EP for the UK's Gated cements his reputation for acidic, emotive electro.

These four tracks see the Adelaide-based artist with one eye on the dancefloor and one on pulling as much soul as he can from his gear.

This is glassy-eyed stuff, deeply melodic but punchy as hell, with all four tracks hitting hard.

Andre King brings things back to an electro tip for the edgy sci-fi noir of "Floating Sensation" and Unai Trotti restores the balance with some boisterous 4/4 bleep business.

Salt Mines is a record label, founded in Melbourne, Australia, that's headed by Rudolf C & Shedbug. With a catalog comprising of mostly Australian producers, Salt Mines is based around a core group of artists emerging in Melbourne while taking in like-minded artists from around the world, all of which share a unique perspective of a singular sound.

We were fortunate enough to catch up with label head Rudolf C as he makes his return alongside Shedbug with their long-awaited Honey Mushrooms II, a follow up to their 2017 EP on Salt Mines. He was able to put together an incredible MIXED BY for us and answer some questions about his label, the Melbourne dance scene, and what lays ahead for Salt Mines during these tumultuous times.
