One of the best tunes I have heard this year. BAD!

Friske comes off the back of a standout year for his personal label Requisite with no signs of easing up the pressure for 23. Three cuts of sunrays selections for warming bass bins and dancefloors. 

Opener “Someone” sees Friske expertly channeling the Jungle cannon by extracting key snare fills and rolls from Plastic Jam’s – Wicked Beat and reconstructing their swing with futurized 808 claps. Ethereal pads, distant voices and pulsing reese complete the halcyon skank out. 

Two mixes of “Daydream” to choose from both pairing echoes of rare groove with drifting synth atmospheres and ear worming arpeggios. Both versions nod heavily to Bukem’s ambient intelligence with true connoisseurs recognizing the harder stepping drums of “Mix 1” gearing towards his Voodoo Magic sets whilst the subtler roll of “Mix 2” anchoring the head down sway of the Speed era.

Friske returns to his home field Requisite with three cuts of high gloss Jungle futurism. 

Buoyant Apache breaks clatter back and forth over nostalgic key lines and haunting voices on “Encounter”, hypnotizing your mind while hulking subs pummel your chest,  bullying you to engage your feet. 

“Overstep” switches to villain mode, prowling underneath the searchlights with sinister digi-dancehall riddim and techno stab Rufige, drenched in chilling atmosphere and brooding attitude. 

The optimism returns as Friske loads up tightly wound breaks on “In Effect”, harnessing echos of Speed era ambiance with fluttering keys and airy melodies spiralling up and over the early morning mist.

The musically gifted Mineral is back on Omni Music with yet more dreamy atmospheric cuts. This EP has all the hallmarks of the sounds he is known for. The opener 'Lightyears from Krypton' eases the listener in gently with it's harmonious synth work, deep bass and steady breaks. 'Distant Life' launches his sounds deeper into the cosmos with a classic amen-led journey with more of his engaging melodics. 'Mystical Ways' drops the BPM slightly, but not the vibe, as classic breakbeats and a serene array of synth lines ebb and flow together symbiotically. The closing track 'Usva' flips back to more dancefloor ready vibes with precision cut drums, hypnotic melodic drops and bouncing bass notes designed to finish the EP on a high.

Following on from the “Nightingale Floor” EP back in 2021, Concealed Identity returns to Repertoire reinforcing his unique take on the drum and bass genre.

A lush mixture of dark and light moods, just as much as home on the dancefloor as at home, Concealed Identity uses his full range of live instrumentation and sampled breakbeat wizardry to create a varied but cohesive extended play.

Vimana and Faultline build and build from meditative, calming intros into trademark grandiose, emotive D&B. Whilst Hold On explores dub and tribal influences, before rising UK jazz and soul vocalist B-ahwe joins Concealed Identity for his first original, full-vocal track on the blissed out Stay.
