Frits Wentink launches his new label Bobby Donny with ‘Live Fast, Dwayne Young’.  Bobby Donny has been set up to primarily feature Frits Wentink’s own tracks, but focusing on the wonkier, more lo-fi house edge of his sound.  The emphasis will be on tracks that are hardware jams on Rhodes, Juno 60 or mpc, then structured later. 

His first EP on Bobby Donny opens with ‘Dwayne Young’, which puts the fun into funky with its deep vibe, filtered vocals and creative samplings.  Slowing it down, ‘Rio’ is next, like a short but sweet interlude of off-kilter slow-mo experimentation.  Then it’s back to the grooving house beats of ‘Guacamole’ with its jazzy backbone, before the melodious ‘Q&A’ kicks in, featuring a gorgeously wobbly overtone.  ‘Aquarelle’ is a perfect ending, with distorted elements gradually coming together to find their harmonious compromise.

With ‘Live Fast, Dwayne Young’ Frits Wentink once again displays the hugely creative talents of this much sought after producer.  It’s released on vinyl and digitally 22nd June.

By now, dutchman Frits Wentink (soundcloud) should be a household name, if not globally, certainly in his homeland. With a discography as long as an orangutan’s arm, Frits, aka Felix Lenferink aka Steve Mensink aka Urkelle, has stamped his name on some of the most credible and respected labels in house music. I say house music in the most general of terms as his style is so unique, spanning so many styles of electronic music; even gliding on the edge of the musique concrète universe. This release on his own ‘un-pigeon-holeable’ label, Bobby Donny, comes in the form of a 10” vinyl featuring 2 dubplate tracks from his infamous 2016 Boiler Room set (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36DRP...) 

Bolting Bits is proud to premiere the A side of this limited hand numbered slice of wax, simply titled ‘A Side’. Bendy synths, off kilter jazz pianos, loose bongo rhythms and vocal out-take samples from your dad’s record collection all perfectly blended together to create a light-hearted dance floor smash. Make no mistake, this track packs a punch with some signature Frits bassline pressure. Drop this at 3am when the crowd are a little tipsy and watch the room light up with a sea of smiling faces.

Yet again, Sir Wentink displays a knack of creating music with the unparalleled ability to make you want to ignore what you knew about dancing, creating a feeling of unbridled freedom to move in whatever the fuck way you want to. Frits Wentink's next release on his own Bobby Donny label finds him editing some tracks he has been playing on his radio show for a while. They are originally by Vertiqua, a German lo-fi hip hop producer that remains unknown.
The vinyl only record is limited to 500 copies.
All four of these tracks have been edited to make them more suited to the dance floor. The a side comes as an edit that is all about woozy chords and loose, bumpy drums with a rapped vocal stitched deep into the arrangement. It's warm and intake for cosy dance floors.The B1 has organic boom bap drums and kicks, more tape delayed chords and a nice analogue feel all finished with a wordless but beautifully soul-infused vocal.
Last of all, the louche drums of on B2 are coated in vinyl crackle and laced up with more intoxicating and imperfect chords.
This is a perfectly aged combination of hip hop and house that will get any floor bouncing. Limited 12 Inch hand numbered vinyl.

This release marks the 10 year anniversary of Wild Oats and its only fitting that we celebrate with a release from the label boss himself on tonight's full moon. Along with the engineering treatment from “Chicago's very own" (C.V.O.) deep house legend, Glenn Underground, "Equanimity" takes on a new foundational sound and assembly that inspires some philosophical thoughts below:

Katastematic Pleasure is the epicurean philosophical concept that the magnitude of pleasure reaches its limit at the removal of all pain. In a sonic sense, this connects to the idea of subtractive equalization or the removal of unpleasant frequencies i.e. taking away the part of the sound you don’t enjoy as much, in turn, leaving the pleasurable parts of the sound intact. Katestematic pleasure is about creating cleanliness and clarity in your life so that your experience is pleasurable by simply the virtue of being.

Solar/Lunar Duality: The Vinyl EP is divided into two planetary bodies. Side A — The “Solar Side” and Side B — “The Lunar” Side. The Sun is represents principally the radiant nature of Masculine energy. The Sun's energy is one that is self generating and everlasting as long as its shining all that receives its rays will continue its growth and abundance. The Moon represents the nature of receptivity the feminine principle which captures the light energy of the sun and reflects it back and governs our physical natural cycles and tides of the waters both internally and externally. The cycles of the moon when we decide to to be attentive to its influence we start to know when to retreat when to rest , when to repair our selves and intuitively when to bloom express our vivaciousness and attract things to ourselves.
