Amsterdam-based artists Cubicolor debut their very first album 'Brainsugar' on Anjunadeep, September 16th. The LP, which features the likes of 'Falling', 'Mirror Play' and brand new song 'Dead End Thrills', sees frequent collaborator and former Duologue front-man Tim Digby-Bell join Peter Kriek and Ariana Olierook as a fully fledged member of the project. Ahead the album release, we're very excited to welcome the guys on board for what it the sixty ninth edition of our central mix and interview series. New Year Message

Hi everyone, I hope you and your families are well. 

As we hurtle towards another year I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your enthusiastic support. 

It has been a busy year with the completion of the box set project making all the 1st five albums available in lovely remastered form. I am very pleased with the way they turned out and I hope you enjoyed some of the rare tracks we were able to include. 
We managed to take the DIA/HL tour around the world visiting Japan, Australia, the UK, and the US, and it was a blast to play those albums for you.

Next year will be the 30th anniversary of the first single release and it seems like a great excuse to do something special again. I'm planning a show or shows for the end of the year which will feature new music and video composed primarily for live performance and a selection of my favourite tracks from the whole hojo canon. In the new music I hope to write specific parts for audience participation and I hope you will feel like joining in the fun of this (parts will go out before the show). 
We also plan to release a DVD set of all the promo videos to date with remastered audio in the box set format. 

Who knows what else might happen!

Ethereal music with an earthly resonance...

Formed in Columbus, Ohio in 1995, Frolic consists of the duo of Matthew Chinn and Kelly O'Brien, along with the guitar work and engineering of Jonathan Beard. The music of Frolic consists of serene washes of atmospheric textures, combined with crystalline guitars and the lofty, angelic vocals of Kelly. 

The band formed in the spring of 1995 in Columbus, Ohio, where an eight month recording session spawned a number of guitar-driven tracks (half of which are on our full-length, "Permafrost").

In 1997, Matt & Kelly moved to Orlando, Florida, where more atmospheric and synth-oriented tracks were produced, and then sent back to Jon for engineering and additional guitar work. This led to the 70-minute epical full-length CD "Permafrost", on the now defunct, Philadelphia-based record label Velvet Empire. 

In the fall of 1999, we gathered some of our early 1995 session tracks and released an EP entitled "Fragments of the Past". 

In 2000, we signed to Projekt records, first offering our track "Skin" on the "Sireenia" female vox compilation, and then later our second full-length CD, "To Dream, Perchance to Sleep" in March 2001.

In the same year we contributed a cover of "Angels We Have Heard on High" to Projekt's holiday compilation "Excelsis Vol. 3: A Prelude".
