The ambience in this section comes from an Axe-Fx patch I use live that sounds similar to an ebow. It uses an expression pedal to control a feedback loop that gives it that infinite sustain. Ben did a few improvised takes with it and instantly added some space and tension building into the next part.

In the original version of this song, it sounds like the lead melody is played on some kind of guitar, and it seemed like a great place for a crescendo of increasingly complicated lead guitars. One guitar plays the original melody and the others harmonize at different intervals in different parts, coming back to unison for a note or two before diverging again. All that harmonic movement helps to keep the song building until the very end.

When the drums come in, this "wall of guitars" sound reminds me of a song by Devin Townsend called Deadhead. Very well done!!!
