His music feels like a never-ending song of longing, melancholy, and even anger. One can sense the light and hope in his productions - the small rays of hope in the dark night. He has released his music on labels such as: VOITAX, Dark Floor Sound, XYZ Project and Limbic Resonance. When he DJs, he loves to play vinyl. Magnum Opus, also known as Felipe Novoa, originates from Colombia, where he crafts a unique sonic landscape characterised by intense sessions filled with fractured tones and dark undertones. However, amidst this intensity, he intricately weaves melodic interludes, capable of transporting listeners to various emotional states. His musical journey commenced with the duo project Alpha & Necromante, eventually crystallising into the well-established persona of Magnum Opus. Alongside his primary identity, he has ventured into other musical territories, producing under aliases like Implantable Technology and collaborating on the duo project Agent 15 with Italian artist Francesco Rachele.

Today, Magnum Opus treats us to an electrifying blend of EBM, techno, industrial, and electro beats. With a fusion of influences, his soundscapes resonate with a captivating energy, promising an immersive auditory experience. A long-time resident of Hong Kong, Byrne has traversed the darker corners of the city’s nightlife for the better part of the last decade, organising parties and holding residencies at venues such as Drop, Midnight & Co. and Oma. His time in Asia has seen him feature at some of the region's leading music events the likes of Clockenflap, Sónar and Quest to name a few. He currently runs @disco_for_the_damned, a monthly radio show that resides at FM Belowground showcasing dark electronic music from guests from all over the world. Most recently, Byrne has used the Disco for the Damned platform to establish amusic label under the same name. The label released its first compilation album in early 2024, featuring works from artists who have contributed to the show in the past.
