With Sista ordet, things takes a different direction, with it being based on a dirty stab sequence with vocal hooks, as well as classic dirty machine funk with layers of hi-hats. Sone is Seattle based DJ and Producer Brian Sonnleitner. His first exploits into music was being immersed in the underground punk scene growing up in Wisconsin during the 90′s. Then late one August evening, after witnessing Chris Liberator melt his mind, Brian shifted gears into pursuing his passion for techno full time. Sone is now a DJ of over a decade, his sets are stuffed full of tension ranging between the deep and dark to heavy big room sounds but, without fail, maintaining the element of the dance floor. While keeping his philosophy of “the best techno is simple and effective”.

2008 brought Brian into the realm of production with his tracks exploring the bigger and darker side of techno. His original productions and remixes appear on his home label, From 0-1, which he runs with long time friend and cohort Milkplant, Slant Records, Audio Autopsy, Rheostatus, and Subspec to name a few. His remix contest for the track “Recovery Mode”, released on From 0-1, received far reaching interest and support with submissions coming in from all over North America and Europe. One of Seattle’s brightest up-and-comers, the years ahead will surely see his impact on the Northwest and beyond.

Bristolian producer Decka is back on his Unterwegs Records imprint with three originals including a remix from PG TUNE boss Philipp Gorbachev.
First making noise in 2015 on Darwin’s Berlin label SPE:C with the 'Begyndelsen’ EP, Decka makes sound that journeys through bare-bones techno and bass, crafting hypnotic polyrhythmic patterns that look both to the big room industrial sound of the German Capital and the sub-low pressure rooted in his home city, Bristol. Decka’s Unterwegs imprint that he runs with The Lady Machine translates to ‘on the move’ correlating with the labels vision to expand upon the idea that music is forever changing, evolving into new territories. ‘Elimination Techniques’ sees Decka invite Russian producer Phillipp Gorbachev for a remix who is known for his flamboyant live sets and productions which can be found on labels such as Comeme and his own PG TUNE label.
‘Balancing Act’ begins proceedings with undulating toughness through beastly drums and shimmering bass growls before ‘Self Evasiveness’ offers up machine-like revolving synths and energising grooves that continue to drive throughout the duration.
On the flip, ‘Elimination Techniques’ lays focus on wavering modulations underneath surging dynamism keeping this peak-time cut flowing until Philipp Gorbachev’s VDNH remix of ‘Elimination Techniques’ moves into industrial territories featuring raw, throbbing kicks and whirling bleeps orbiting around growling synthesis fiercely rounding off this effervescent EP.

5 Questions with Chris Rusu:

1. We all fell into electronic music one way or another. Where did it all begin for you?

My first time hearing electronic music was when I was about 13. My older friend was into jungle so he would take me to a local record store here in Madison and I would dive into all the crates until I came across a sound I fell in love with Techno. At the the time it was mostly Chris Liebing, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer and Rino Cerrone. Later on Minimal really grabbed my ear and lots and lots of Minus track were purchased. At the time Gaiser, Skoozbot and Richie Hawtin were huge influences into what I do now.

2. In the mid/late 90's and early 00's it just seemed like Midwest electronic scene could not be beat. What is your opinion on the current state of affairs?

I feel when I started to DJ in 2000 - 2001; Ableton Live and Final Scratch just started to make there way into DJ set ups. From there a wave or purists vs "future forward" DJ's split. I remember some people not showing up to great shows just because they didn't mix on records. I enjoy all sets from any styles. I recently listen to a mix from someone using reel to reel it was brilliant.
Now that Traktor, Ableton and Serato are more excepted I think we are moving forward fairly quickly. And the new kids don't give a shit who's using what. They just want to get into the scene and fast. That has it's pluses and minuses but I feel like as a community we are growing and are more excepting of different styles and ways to express ourselves in the DJ booth.

3. This is my favorite question to ask since everyone's approach is so different. What is your current production and performance setups?

For my DAW I use Image Line's FL-Studio Producer addition. I just have my Xone 1D for MIDI - automating my channels FX-EQ etc.
A beautiful pair of JBL 4328 reference monitors and a pair of AKG 701 headphones for the three in the morning listening.
For mixing I use Traktor Pro, 2 A&H Xone 1-D's, Korg Zero 4 mixer/MIDI and a pair of Ultrasone DJ-1's.

4. When not dj-ing and producing music, what do you spend your time doing?

I brew ALLOT of beer. I actually went to school for brewing at Siebel Institute. I took the Web-based Associate in Brewing Technology Program. If i wasn't pursuing music I would be trying to start a Nanobrewery. I also love painting, photography.

5. What's in store for Chris Rusu this year, upcoming projects, gigs, etc?

I just recently joined Dubfire's label Sci+Tec Digital Audio. So there will be a release hopefully out soon. I also am working on trying to finish up another release with Brood Audio and have something in the works with new Minus artist - Justin James and his new label FUSE.
As far as shows go I hope to get some momentum after the release comes out with Sci+Tec and the other labels.
