Monya is originally from Poland and has been signed to respected techno labels with her production. She has seen a quick rise through the techno scene in such a short time and this has seen her play beside many respected techno artists. Through hard work and determination this has earned her bookings at the Internationally renowned Tresor and many other clubs. She just released her first album for BCR and is busy doing remixes and EPs for other labels like, Illegal Alien Records, IF?, Proper New York, and work with many well known artists like Steve Stoll, Bas Mooy, Iformat, Mike Parker, Pfirter, Joseph Mcgeechan. Monya's sound is industrial, bass-heavy, hypnotic techno. She was also in charge of the label nights for BCR and was an important part of the label. Recently, Monya has also began a new project with Joseph McGeechan working on collaborations together. She is managed in North America, Canada by Re-Konstrukt artist management which is one of the leading techno booking agencies.

5 Questions with Monya:

You released your debut album, "Somatics -The Book", on BCR in March 2013, including a vinyl release with remixers Steve Stoll, Bas Mooy and Joseph McGeechan. What was the inspiration for these tracks?

As trivial as it might sounds, life. Thru the past couple of years I’ve experienced the ‘unexpected’... do not want to bore you with all the details but I’ve made a lot of changes in the way I percept not only myself but the world surrounding. Finally I came to the point where all my emotions had to be unleashed. Day by day, tone to tone and ‘Somatics’ was born.

What was your role in BCR, [Berlin Consumer Records], and how did you become involved with the label?

My affair with the label began in 2011, shortly after ‘Bunkerstrasse’ EP has been released. Soon after I became close with the label owner. Honestly not even sure when exactly I became assistant and booking manager.

You play Tresor fairly regularly, what is it that makes the club special for your style of techno?

Tresor is a legend in itself, therefore I find this question a bit odd. ..I guess it is special for any type of techno... it rather makes the industrial style I play sound magical!

What types of music do you follow besides techno?

Where to start the question is! I am very open minded, I guess it all depends on a day and mood I’m currently in... it can be as well rock, Balkan or classic music.

What is coming up next for Monya?

Only good things I hope! I’m now focused on kicking off with my own label Corresponding Positions . All I can say at the moment is that you can expect the first vinyl release very soon, including remixes from well known and respected producers in the industry. I also look forward to my upcoming release with my friend ad.lib including Mike Parker and Bas Mooy remixes.
