After launching his own record label 'Body Cuts' late last year the Nashville resident has found success releasing tunes on Electronic Groove and Moskalus. Today marks the release of his ambitious new EP 'Elements', on the aforementioned 'Body Cuts' label.

Joe Dickey, aka Body Copy, is a DJ/Producer living in Nashville, TN. Originally from southwest Virginia, Dickey moved to the Music City in 2014 to continue his career as a touring and session bass player. A desire to find a creative outlet for exploring his love of music production and electronic dance music led Dickey to start the Body Copy project in 2017. Since then he has released a number of EPs on his own label, Body Cuts, as well as labels including The Nashville House Syndicate, Get Up Recordings, and EFFESS Records. The latest Body Copy release is an EP called Elements which is out on Body Cuts July 10, 2020.

I hit up DJ Waste for this mix after hearing his guest transmission on https://soundcloud.com/wave-state. Coming from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, DJ Waste produces eclectic and ethereal techno. His upcoming EP 'Ouroboros' is an intriguing blend of minimal electronica and industrial techno. This 30minute guest mix is one of the more interesting I've received so far with a unique combination of mysterious vocals and hard hitting drums

Lighthouse Mix Series 02 - DJ Waste

I first heard Keiju (JP)'s music a few months ago on Clipp.art. Since then I've gone through each of the Kyoto based artist's releases and fully appreciated his discography. Producing mainly house music, Keiju has found international success, with releases on PalmStructure and NC4K. The mix he brings today comes ahead of the launch of his new project 'Ground Mother Records' in collaboration with ktskm and others.

This uplifting set combines traditional house grooves with asian influenced tunes, a pretty accurate representation of Keiju (JP)'s music.

Now for something a little bit different. I asked the Melbourne based collective House of Friends to join this series after coming across their page a couple of months ago. Since then I've gotten to enjoy their unique take on house mixing, blending multiple genres of electronic music into one cohesive yet eclectic mood. This hour is kicked off by a tune from the criminally underrated Gene on Earth and goes on to include tracks from Jura Soundsystem and even George Michael.

Lighthouse Mix Series 04 - House of Friends

I asked Hannah Hession for a mix recently, knowing she would bring something interesting to this series. I'm happy to report that she did just that. This short set is a brilliant blend of new and old-school tunes, starting out with the new AES tune 'Club Talks' and playing the likes of Stenny, Randomer and Kettama. This is the most energetic set this series has seen so far. Look out at the end for Ashnikko's 'Stupid' mixed Kettama's hard 'Lens Lens Lens',

Hackney based producer DJ Hoshino brings us a lovely half hour of lofi house this week. I first came across DJ Hoshino with his releases: 'Things I'd Never Dare' and 'A Real life' and was hooked. These deep, dark and emotive grooves perfectly encapsulate Hoshino's style . With such a perfect grasp on the lofi house sound it is no surprise that he has featured time and again on the Houseum, EELF and Palm Structure labels. This mix brings the energy with some disco and funk influenced house tunes, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Costa Rican DJ Sosu has been on my radar for the last few months. Based in San José, she brings a unique perspective to this series with a smooth blend of break, acid house and techno. Sosu has been in the game for over 5 years and heads up the great 'Weird & Lovely' mix series. I was glad Sosu could come through with this mix as it was delayed by Storm Eta hitting Central America and severely impacting Costa Rica. This is a very chill mix and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Froman - Broken Computer [CLIPP185]

Froman is an electronic artist based in Galway. He humbly describes himself as producer of smooth lofi house, breakbeat and future garage, but i’d hazard to argue he’s more like a young Irish vibe god (possibly Aengus, the deity associated with love, youth and poetic inspiration). Why the lofty accolades you may enquire, dear reader? For starters, in case you were born without ears - figuratively speaking (!!!!) (Please save your hate tweets people that know people that know someone born with Anotia/Microtia) lemme break it down for you. You see, Froman produces lofi like Neo sees ones and zeros in the matrix. He has an innate ability to reduce tunes down into their pure essence of vibedom. Witness here his “Broken Computer” release comprising four tracks of simplest pleasure. This is a guy that doesn’t ask himself “does this track need another pad?” (the answer is always NO). And if there ever was for some inexplicable reason an inkling of the urge to layer another clap or snare drum, there is no evidence present of such artistic struggle happening within or around any of these tunes. What there is though is an abundance of “old-school” energy. Whether it be the Style Wars era commentary versus filter funk of “Crime in the City”, school-wagging sass over the lazy groove of “OK I’ll Go”, slam poetry musings floating over a lonely slow mo TR909 on “The Art of Rhyme” or frozen beach horizon backgrounds and jackin upfront beat of “Nothing Much”, these tracks transport listeners to bygone times. Like your own personal Delorean. Some might say these sounds already sit in and of themselves in an outdated era. Obsolete. Like the fragmented files found on a broken computer. But a bit of nostalgia couldn’t hurt getting us through what has been a shit show start to the new decade. And as we draw the curtain on the truly bizarre year of 2020, we’re reminded gently that the journey is still the kick.

I'm delighted this week to have my friend UrbnMowgli on the series. I first found him through his release on clipp.art and have been into his music ever since. I'll be featuring on a VA he's releasing on his new label 'Emotional Voyage' later this year. He put together a banging mix of electro and house for this series. Coming in at just under an hour this is slightly longer than most on Lighthouse Mixes but it's well worth your time.

UrbnMowgli is a Berlin based producer and DJ and is known for his unconstrained style of electronic music. Ranging from House sub-genres such as acids, lofi and deephouse to lush acid breaks and elektro. His DJ sets are as multi facetted as are his productions. Releasing on labels such as Bipolar Disorder (SWZ), Clipp.art (AUS), Welofi (RUS), Routine Espresso (USA), to name a few, he also holds a residency at the club Jonny Knüppel and is part of the SEV kollektive. With his newly established label “Emotional Voyage” him and his crew consisting of the artists Moodrich and Sketchy are focusing on pushing deep emotional underground music in all its forms and provide a platform for their own personal taste. In this context UrbnMowgli’s focus and quest is to establish the genre “rave house”.

Emotional Voyage Records is a newly established label founded in late 2020 from the 3 young Berlin artists UrbnMowgli, Moodrich and Sketchy. Their first release comes in form of a VA featuring 12 passionate and talented artists from around the globe who stand for underground electronic music. Ranging from Break Beats, Elektro, House, Lofi, Rave and Trance the VA is packed with timeless golden jams. The quest and dedication to push emotional dance music in all its form is the driving force behind the label and its current and future release. After what's been the hardest year in existence for many people on earth, especially those involved in music and live performance, it's hard to imagine the reality of being homeless at any time, let alone right now.
100% of the proceeds from our debut VSN compilation go to Dublin charity, Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH), who do mammoth amounts of work on the streets of the Irish capital, where there is an ongoing epidemic of homelessness.

With tracks coming from far and wide across almost every genre we could think of, we take a club night that came from very humble Saturday nights in Room 2 of a Galway nightclub to worldwide ears thanks to the generous productions of some of the biggest and most talented names that you may know every detail about or nothing at all; each track paints a different and unique aspect of the world of VSN.
