Trevor Brandt aka From Dust's self titled debut album represents the culmination of his 13 years of music production and spans a variety of genres from progressive house to melodic breaks and more. Inspired by artists like Bonobo and labels like Anjunadeep, the album is experimental, complex and driven by powerful and hypnotic rhythms, emotional and cinematic melodies, creatively edited sampled vocal chops, and ever-changing modulated synthesizers. The project is a portfolio of Trevor's advanced production techniques and songwriting capabilities and acts as a launching off point for the future of this new artist moniker "From Dust" which launched in 2022.

This one is a special one. I sampled a Sampha track for the main vocal melody and experimented a lot with creative sample editing. I sound designed the chords from scratch and had a great time with the bouncey bassline and drums with the perfect swing.

My current theme for my music is “feels in the club” and this track really represents that. I’m constantly trying to hit that sweet spot between euphoria and sadness, and create tunes for people to dance out their feelings to

Trevor Brandt’s passion for music began as a child in church in Zimbabwe, Africa, where he saw how community and music were intrinsically connected and how music can lead to emotionally transformative experiences. Later, he moved to California where he played in bands and was later introduced to electronic music and DJing, becoming so obsessed with it that he dragged his desktop computer to house parties, mixing using a mouse and keyboard.

He soon became enamored with music production and enjoyed being able to fully express himself and his creative visions. He also organized events locally and became drawn to underground electronic music and its potential to evoke emotionally transformative experiences at a new kind of church - the dance floor. His love for music has always been firmly rooted in its ability to deeply connect us with ourselves and bring people together. His productions allude to that sense of emotional transformation and are characterized by beautiful, ethereal melodies and driving hypnotic rhythms.

He currently resides in San Francisco, and recently started the “From Dust” project which is inspired by the idea that everything comes from nothingness, including ourselves, and that we choose our meaning and can also discover meaning through the act of creation. It is also a message of humility in the face of ego as we remember that we came from dust, and while we briefly hold this form, to dust we will one day return.
