Bruna and Lívia of FHTD masterfully blend house and disco, captivating audiences in festivals and clubs for over a decade. Celebrated for their seamless mix of old-school and modern beats they’ve left a mark in the music scenes of Brazil and Europe. Their studio work reflects a deep understanding of dance music and an exuberant taste for housy and disco-ish sounds and grooves.

Timelines can be fascinating tools, liberating and limiting in similar ways, depending on how we use them. Some prefer to see them as axes of solid logic underpinning a steady sequence of developments, but maybe that they are better understood (and used) as guiding principles that enable us to navigate the manifold trends and myriad genres that make up the history of this beloved artform we celebrate here on a regular basis. More orientational resources than mapping tools, they help us establish itineraries amid the gargantuan diversity that the aural wealth we encounter across the worlds we explore. Likewise, genres are much more useful (and meaningful) while deemed as abstract places rather than actual actual locations, providing spaces for approximation and elements for permutation so we can create our own intersections. So, when we come across such a straightforward name as the one that graces the project bny our guests for this episode, we know that we are presented with more than a style or a statement, we are gifted with a range of possibilities encapsulated in the space between both musical realities, both joined by a labour of love that originates in the love for each other and the music that bonds them. It is exactly this overpouring of feelings, the overpowering energy that runs through it and between these two magnificent selectors, that make this mix so special.

As Tree Sixty One (TSO) continues its journey to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we are thrilled to bring you a special EP that exemplifies our passion for intercontinental connections and vibrant House Music. This time, we are honored to host the prestigious German DJ and producer Phonk D, well known for his outstanding productions.

Phonk D brings us a captivating house music tune, 'Vida Boa', infused with delightful Brazilian vocal elements and some special tropical vibes. The title, meaning 'good life', beautifully represents the Brazilian lifestyle. This release goes particularly close to our hearts, as TSO is rooted in Brazil and we love creating musical bridges between continents.

Adding to the excitement, we have an energetic remix by the rising Brazilian duo, From House to Disco (FHTD), who are also making their debut on TSO. Their unique four-to-the-floor track, enriched with nostalgic '90s vibes, perfectly complements Phonk D's original mix. The magic continues as Gustavo FK and Verano joined forces at our headquarters to craft a beautiful and more sentimental Deep House version of the track that will just get you in the right mood.

This EP is a celebration of Brazilian culture, with Phonk D's classic and classy touch and the vibrant contributions from our local artists.

From House To Disco has been serving up their own timeless take on house and disco for a decade. The Brazilian pair always manage to join the dots between the past, present and future with a great understanding of what moves a dance floor, which is why they have been selected for this superb retrospective of the Definitive catalogue. In that time, they have played all of Brazil's most cultured clubs and festivals from D-EDGE to Festa Selvagem as well as visiting parties from Time Warp, Piknic Electronik and Glitterbox and across Europe at places like ADE.
Known for their fine curatorial skills and endless research into dance music culture, their house and disco tunes are well-informed and authentic. They have appeared on labels such as Renato Cohen’s Massa Records, Get Physical sub-label COCADA Music, and climbed high in digital charts while also getting big support from the likes of Palms Trax, Job Jobse, and Jamie Jones.
They showcase their exceptional taste in this collection of classics from the cult Canadian label Definitive. It was founded by John Acquaviva, Richard Hawtin, and Karl Kowalski in 1992 as an embodiment of their vision for house music. "Not too hard, not too soft" was the mantra, and it built up a fine body of talented artists who made a real impact on the global underground and helped to foment a unique identity for the label. Though the label was acquired by Get Physical Music last year, it is still A&Red by John Acquaviva, and this compilation hones in on its still-fresh signature sound.
Opening up the collection is Blunted Dummies, aka Shawn Caesar and Ty James. Their 1993 gem 'House For All' was an immediate anthem and is a chunky deep house delight. Tropical Underworld, aka Jordan Fields's 1995 track 'Chasing Rainbows' was an under-the-radar masterpiece back then and will now make a real mark with its gritty underground sound and lo-fi house aesthetic. Barada's 'Black Magic' is a punchy tech house sound with a tribal edge and panel-beating percussive loops, and then comes John Acquaviva with secret weapon ‘U Ain't Really Disco' Mix of Dance Fever's 'A Woman In Love', a dubbed-out house swinger from 1992.
Jetstream was an alias of Karl E. Kowalski, and his potent deep house track 'Seriously' was the first-ever release on this label and also the only track he ever put out. Acquaviva then features again with his lithe and liquid dub tech cut 'Boomjak' which is lit up by soulful Detroit pads. Omega Man's 'Happy Organ' is another full-blooded house cut with retro-future basslines and erotic vocal coos all the way from 1994 then Wax Fruit's 'Be Yourself' (Ron Allen Dub Mix) is a brand new version of an all-time deep house classic that oozes finesse and luxurious synth-strings. Closing out this vital collection are the four superb From House To Disco remixes of Definitive tracks, which also come as a standalone vinyl 12".

From House to Disco showcase their timeless sound on a new remix of Las Americas for Definitive Recordings. This and three others feature on a compilation they have put together for the classic label.

‘Disco House For All’ is a deep dive into the legendary Canadian label's back catalogue and features four new remixes from South American pair From House to Disco. They have long been defining the sound of the Latin underground with their fine blend of past, present and future sounds on labels like Renato Cohen’s Massa Records and Get Physical sub-label COCADA Music.

This remix finds them flipping Las Americas's 'Look, Listen, Love' into a seductive but jacking sound with brilliant '80s drum and a peppering of toms that will shake dance floors loose. An iconic early Chicago bassline then roams through the mix to captivating effect as bright chords finish things off in style.

The original also features and is a heavily percussive and multi-layered tribal deep house gem with a steamy atmosphere. Last but not least, Robotman remixes it into a more thumping cut but still with a delicious bassline and some extra acid lines that bring an all-new edge to the timeless original.
