It starts straight with a whipping nervous rhythm section that shows the way, giving direction in a dense haze of sound wherefrom the deep bass driven theme rises to the surface, enclosing you directly with its wafting sounds. Sweet but dangerous.

'Gimme' has got us excited and it doesn't mess around. 

There's no quiet intro or easing you into this one as fierce bass and thudding percussion slams in from the off. After two minutes, the outrageous mutant riffs that sound like Mr Oizo on acid come hurtling in and after that it's an all-out monster.

If 'This Love' is the rugged, abrasive techno roller then 'Settled' is the Innervisions-esque floater. We've got the premiere of the latter and it's pretty special.

Ominous low-ends rumble while delicate yet deadly riffs twinkle on top and the ferocious claps and snares only add to the pace. It's a refined and accomplished track from the Londoner and has all the makings of one of the summer's biggest smashes. Bravo.

'Canadian duo Joluca follow up slamming releases on Perfect Driver and Psycho Disco with a new EP on Gene Farris' Farris Wheel Recordings. "Automatic" is a techy two-tracker with a healthy dose of raw electronic funk with both the title track and b-side "Don't Wanna Talk" delivering rolling grooves, sizzling synth lines, and crisp percussion.
