Poo Pad Pong Curry  プーパッポンカリー REMIXES

In 2012, xiangyu met Yasutomoto Funakanga -her current manager- while she was studying at the Bunka Fashion College. For some reason, he advised her to start singing, but she declined, as she was not interested in music at all. Five years later, she decided to follow Yasu and they started the xiangyu project by dropping the amazing video of “Poo Pad Pong Curry”, a crazy fusion of gqom and J-pop. Since 2018, she sings about the simple things of her daily life such as food or shoes, empowered by producers like Kenmochi Hidefumi or Gimgigam. Seduced by this incredible shock between Japanese culture and global sounds like gqom, amapiano or singeli, Chiguiro Records contacted xiangyu and Yasu to collaborate on a Remix EP. We gathered 4 of the best global electronic producers of our era, and proposed to them a challenge: bring their fresh vision of the iconic single “Poo Pad Pong Curry”, six years after its release. 

At 30 years old, the reputation of Ntobeko Ntshingila aka Emo Kid is well established. Through melodic and inspired gqom productions, the artist has built a reputation in Durban, becoming a true ambassador of this music as powerful as it is unique in Africa. Nicknamed Emo by his friends, he adopted it when he started making music in 2013 on his computer, normally intended for IT classes. Like many producers of the genre, he developed his own musical sensibility in his bedroom, with a lot of imagination, the usual Fruity Loops and a pair of speakers, picking up sound packages here and there to have fun with. In search of the next banger, he landed In 2017 on Gqom Oh!, the label of Francesco Nan Kolè and Citizen Boy. After releasing the epic "The Art Of Gqom" on Chiguiro Records, he's back with a brilliant dark gqom remix of xiangyu's "Poo Pad Pong Curry".

French DJ, producer and graphic designer Jo Capïsh made a colorful series of artworks, for each remix.

@Mechatok returns this month with a shimmering new project titled ‘All My Time’. 

As the name would suggest, the four-track release is a personal project, exploring a contemporary pop landscape through the eyes of Staycore affiliate Mechtaok, AKA Timur Tokdemir. 

And today we’re excited to premiere A-side track ’12 Years’. Coming in at just under four minutes, the captivating cut skips between club and pop nuances, fuelled by raw, magnetic energy and emotional intimacy.

The ‘All My Time’ EP is out May 25 on @sennilorenzo’s @presto-records.
