HoHay is a post-punk/ electro-industrial band - or not, that combines relentless energy and raw, hardware-driven soundscapes.
Typically they consist of me, maybe you or maybe no one, and active between Athens and Berlin, who knows though.
   Driven by an unwavering commitment to sound terrorism, the entity blends bright dark, groovy beats with impulsive analog synth melodies.
   Dedicated to those who desire a departure from disposable feelings and democracies which start to fade, NoHay is an effort to shout altogether - our rationale is the irrational.

In 2010 Julie-Morand Ferron and Éric Trottier formed one of the most exciting duos in the Canadian electronic music scene. As Violence they created a distinct sound that captured all of their energy and enthusiasm for the things they held dear in the world around them. Since their relationship formed as teenagers, they went on to become creative partners in a constant exchange of musical and artistic ideas. Sadly, Julie passed away in 2022. She left a rich legacy behind, both as a devoted mother and also in her work as an eminent scientist, published in prestigious scientific journals. In her work as a formidable performer, she created Violence's last album as a duo with her partner Éric.

Abandos began as the brainchild of Kyle Marchiafava. After releasing a 7" on Bruised Tongue in addition to another 7" later in 2014, the band rebranded itself in January of 2015. Kyle made the switch to use an MPC 1000 in lieu of a live drummer and bassist, as many lineup changes had plagued Abandos from the start.

After stripping down to just an MPC, Wes Russel of Hot Guts was brought aboard to Abandos on guitar; "Nurture" being the first release of their material in this lineup. The style of music they produce in this way is heavily influenced by genres of EBM and synthpunk, with unique character added to it by way of Wes' guitar work and Kyle's vocal tone.

The Shape of Things to Come

As the head of the Minimal Wave and Cititrax labels, Veronica Vasicka has been a prominent figure in the world of synth and wave music for more than a decade. Yet somehow, she's never shared any original music of her own. On November 2, however, that is set to change with the release of 'From Here,' a tune that she originally made back in 2004. Along with the original, the full EP – which will be arriving via the Downwards label – includes several reworks of the track, including this ominously lithe remix from Regis. The song debuted on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.
