What You Need vol.2  contains 4 tracks that hold their own weight individually but curate an energy that continue to inclines throughout. Steppin heat kicks off the ep with an old jackin vibe that champions a junky 80s hip hop vocal and top leads bouncing off the driving along with the powerful bassline. We then pick up the pace on the dance floor with the get down, providing more thump in the drums and bassline and simplicity in the drop. Preliminary takes us to the penultimate peak of the EP with a simple organ riff to drive hands in the air, bringing us to a spacious final breakdown that allows the listener to feel the melodies bounce from one another. Check It closes of the EP with a light and upbeat tone expressed in the chord and instrumentation.

Label mainstay Seb Zito provides the ‘Ragg On EP' on the ever growing Fuse label. ‘Run Along’, the eps' vinyl only track is a superbly quirky roller and shows a side of the artist we’ve yet to see with a melancholic and thoughtful streak imbuing proceedings. ‘Raggs’ is a stripped back roller, flecks of affected vocals poke through giving the track a tripped out feel. ‘Those People’ round things off nicely, with it’s chunky beats and skippy percussion bringing to mind the more classic side of Tech House from years gone by.

You&Me artists Josh Baker & Alfa serve up a shuffling house release entitled ‘Basscamp EP’ on Archie Hamilton’s Moss Co. label, dropping this November.

Manchester’s Josh Baker has been making notable appearances at Hide&Seek Festival, The Cause and Motion, not to mention a steady stream of releases on Tamango, Adult Only, Talman, and Ben Rau’s META. He’s also the founder of label and event series You&Me, of which fellow north-country rising artist and studio partner Alfa – who cut his teeth within Leeds’ thriving scene - is a core resident.

‘Basscamp’ starts with harmonizing pads, subtle bongo patterns, choppy chords and a rolling bass line, ‘Mr Bargain Hunter’ then cuts in with pumping sub-frequencies, arpeggiated keys, break-like kicks and falling space-laser stabs. ‘Marketplace Steal’ finalizes things with fluttering stereo effects, a 303-groove, haunting vocal samples and tight percussion.
