To me funky and groovy house music is characterized by infectious and upbeat energy.

This energy is provided by added elements that make you want to move, to make it impossible to stand still while listening to the music. This element can come in many forms. It could be a vocal, a drum loop, a bassline, or even different instruments. The track has to carry an element to engage you and make you move.

This mix incorporates some easygoing tracks, and some tracks that carry serious energy. There is no limit, as long as there is funk and groove to it.

This mix contains different energy levels, with an increase in energy throughout.

Some tracks go back in time, whereas some tracks have been released fairly recently.

REC 001

This mix dives a little bit deeper than the previous one and contains some tracks that I haven't yet played that often. Some older gems from the early 2000s by artists like StoneBridge, Phunk Data, and Olav Basoski.

I strongly feel that tracks being faster/harder does not mean they have to lose their groove. I tried to capture that in this mix by giving it more energy, keeping the bpm above 130 with a big focus on with groovy, funky, french/filter house.

REC 002

Easily one of my favourite sets that I recorded. Put a big focus on groove, making sure the whole set was rolling along. Tempo is fairly high as well.

Came in with a rough list of tracks and no other preparation. I often decide on my first two tracks and then feel where the rest goes. It's what I do during my normal sets and it always gives me the best experience and results. Wanted to try the same approach for this set, and for me it worked out for me. Simply connecting with the music is what works best and what makes me most creative.

Frontroom, from Nijmegen (NL), is a DJ whose goal is to make you move with warm, funky, groovy house music, drawing inspiration from artists such as DJ Sneak. While maintaining a consistent groove, his sound ranges in energy from more disco-leaning tracks to tracks that touch on groovy tech-house, with a special love for early 90s and 00's underground house.

After multiple bookings at clubs and small festivals, he made his entry in the scene. While collecting and sharing music started as a hobby years ago, he feels the need to share this joy and passion for music with others.
