I finally managed to produce a full microtonal track that I'm happy with. It was described as trippy but wonderful by the test audience. Each instrument gets their own Carlos Beta scale separated by pure octaves so the track has a 19EDO vibe to it.

Orchid - Carlos Beta microtonal 10/16 beat

This song is based on the calendar year of 2021. The falling melody-line follows the subharmonic series starting from 1/4 and resets every month with one day corresponding to one beat. The pitch is tied to the tempo so the melody can be conceived to vibrate every 4 minutes, then every 5 minutes and so on.
The harmony follows the subharmonic series as well, but with octave equivalence to fill the available pitch space more evenly. Cymbal crashes are timed to holidays.

Calendar (Subharmonic series microtonal 7/8 beat)

This song was created to explore the harmonic possibilities of Blackwood[15] realized as Rank 2 temperament (5/3, 5\1). The 5edo subsets offer new opportunities for modulation and the pure major sixth evokes a familiar diatonic sound even if not generated by the fifths.

The piece opens with an easy 12 bar blues-like melody and modulates once before plunging into descending shepard tone harmony with no intended key center. The beat is structured around one quarter note and a quarter note triplet in 3/4 time. In the latter part the triplet is moved to the front of the bar emphasizing a 9/8 short-short-short-long feel.

Not super happy about the key changes and general composition, but I'm trying to practice "done" instead of "perfect" (it's always a little painful).
