Salutations, all! Welcome to my first ever sound composition. :D This was actually an assignment for one of my university classes, which necessitated an abstract piece, 1:30 - 2:00 minutes long. We were told to avoid standard pop rhythms and instruments, so no guitars or pianos, and no/little usage of loops and samples. Otherwise, well, we were allowed to run free - I even got explicit permission to use UTAU! :3 There are a few other weird things hidden throughout; most notably, I actually converted an image into a midi, than shoved that midi into UTAU to get, well, garbled jibberish. Shi-nu handled the nightmare midi well, though, and it helped add some creepiness to the song. :3

[Mio Hanane + Shi-nu Oto-san] Can You Hear Me? [Original UTAU Composition]

Hello hello! It's been a little while, huh? :3 Some time ago, I was listening to that weird Koronba imitation subgenre-thing and decided that I wanted to cover one. So, the thing about this subgenre(???) is that it basically originated in the UTAU community, and the first wave had a tendency to use lower quality, electronic, CV UTAU. (Notably, a sub-subgenre almost exclusively uses Defoko. :3) I actually really love the idea behind that: I really do adore exhibiting all of these forgotten, brushed-away UTAUs; moreover, a musical subgenre that not only focuses on, but is enhanced by the noise attached to lower quality voicebanks is *fascinating*. I love it! :D Admittedly, the song I covered actually breaks away from the 'rules' above, instead featuring the Vocaloid Meika Mikoto as the main vocalist. Still, I got to experiment around with my downloaded voicebanks, and choose one who hasn't been used in probably threeish years. :D Oh, and to really fit into the genre, I commissioned some lovely pixel art from my friend, mochima! (He's the voicer of Hyodoji Yumi, another UTAU I've used. :3) Yukiko (in both of her acts!!!) looks wonderful here; he did an amazing job, no doubts about it.

One final note: the main singer here is Yukiko Mizune Act2, while the backing vocal is actually her Act1. Yukiko's Act2 has this beautiful fuzz that just worked utterly purrfectly here, while her Act1 has a cutesier tone that contrasted well.

【YoTo Udewaki】Arirang (아리랑)【UTAU Cover】

Hello everyone!! If you follow me elsewhere, then you're well aware that I've been alive and online these past months, just inactive here. I ran into certain computer issues that made it hard to actually work on anything musical, and the few things I have had a chance (an original song being one of them) to do aren't really done yet. Still, I want this video to signify something of a comeback. I enjoy making music, nyan. :3

So, this is actually for PromoVoca's first ever contest! #PromoVocaCOVER The contest wants people to make covers of obscure indie works by little-known vocal synth musicians! I chose AyumiU's "I Don't Know" for a few different reasons, but the main one is that I've always just wanted to mess around with it. The song lends itself to interesting mixing, and while I feel that my early tuning in the song is lacking (in hindsight, I should've gone more dramatic and experimental), I think my weird style of distorted mixing plays well with this sort of eerie digital horror song. :3 It's also an excuse to actually let IA English C finally come out to play; she's been the basis of a lot of my harmony edits in previous works, but I haven't actually put her into any songs -- until today. :3 I really don't expect to win, by the way; this was more of a way to force me to actually upload something again. XD

So, say hello to Kitsune Chi! She was actually one of the first UTAU I downloaded, alongside Sueoka Mitzi. I've known about her for a little while, ever since I started work on the Outer Science chorus, and she's super cool. She's pretty electronic, but also harsh and kind of nasally - a lot of things I love. She's another fairly low vocal, too -- I really need to pick up a few higher voicebanks eventually, but I do like my low peeps. But yeah, I wanted to find a song that would work really well with her: something equally electronic, but also strong and powerful. I had downloaded a UST for this song a little while ago, mostly because of ViVi-P's wonderful cover of it ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cow4cJWabjM ), and...yeah. I think this sounds pretty good! Hello! I'd like you all to meet Haruki Jin! He belongs to my friend elliot dealice, and he's been pretty fun to use! Fun fact, this cover features two of his voicebanks: his Natural, which mostly handled the higher notes, and a new beta voicebank, which mostly handled the lower ones. :3 If you want to see more of him in action, you should head on over to elliot's channel~ Anyways, I've been meaning to use Haru for a while, and I had *no* idea what to use him with...until this song got stuck in my head, of course. ;3 His upper registrars can really pull off a good pop rock song like this, so it seemed purrfect to use him here!

Although, on the topic of this song, this...mhm, went interestingly. I actually tuned the designated harm UST first, then realized that the other UST part was the main, and just...yeah. Plus, I'm still not entirely happy about the second verse. D: I went with the longer version because I've got some other super short USTs I wanna work on, but I kind of regret not covering the short version. Ah well. XD
