Marking the one-year anniversary of his debut album, Jack Watkins reimagines Wonderland as a collection of solo piano pieces. Sketches from Wonderland strips away the technicolour layers of the originals to reveal their raw beginnings — songs that started life at the piano, now returned to their most intimate form. Some stay true, others become entirely new, but together they offer a tender reflection on the music’s heart and soul.

“alone among the stars” is an intimate lo-fi neoclassical ambient piece, built around fragile felt piano motifs and warm legato cello swells. Subtle tape hiss and long reverb tails create the sense of cosmic solitude – deeply melancholic yet carrying a quiet hope. A slow-moving soundscape for dreaming, deep focus, or drifting beyond the horizon.
