2013 saw Silicone Soul celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their Darkroom Dubs imprint. Launched in Glasgow back in 2003, the DRD stamp has become a mark of quality and seen many established names exploring deeper realms whilst also unearthing fresh and exciting global talent. 

From Fabric to Watergate, The Standard Rooftop to Club Bahrein Buenos Aires, the Scottish duo have celebrated their disco-decade with a string of '10 Year' parties spread across the last 12 months, building on Darkroom Dubs already strong global reach. 

To round off their birthday in style Craig and Graeme have asked some of the label's main acts and strongest supporters to contribute a track for a new compilation. Artists including jozif, Ryan Crosson, Uner, Gary Beck, Of Norway and Simon Garcia all feature in the collection that Silicone Soul present as a snapshot of the future sound and musical vision of Darkroom Dubs. 

Due for release Feb 24th 2014 on double 12" vinyl and download.

London-based producer Cera Alba pairs up with vocalist Zahra for a pair of tough tracks on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this June featuring a remix from Stockholm’s Tiger Stripes.

Since his humble beginnings several years ago the Newcastle-born artist has cemented a reputation for consistency, with releases appearing on the likes of Hot Creations, Moon Harbour, VIVa MUSiC,
Avotre, Madtech and Gruuv. As a DJ he’s been making regular appearances across Europe, including venues such as Watergate Berlin, Sankeys Ibiza, Brixton Academy London, not to mention festivals such as Hideout.

‘Taking Over Me’ is a dark and moody roller from the get-go. Robust drums and mesmerizing atmospherics form its basis whilst Zahra’s soulful vocals and a cavernous low-end rumbles throughout to its rhythm as a piercing vocal and metallic elements ebb in and out of the mix. Tiger Stripes then provides a crunchy remix of ‘Taking Over Me’, distorting Zahra’s vocals whilst incorporating tantalizing synths into his own stomping rendition.

Multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Adam Gibbons (aka Lack of Afro) is back in some style with ‘Back To The Day’, a beautifully produced summer sizzler crammed full of infectious hooks, top musicianship and most importantly, vibe by the bucketload! Taking a nod from classic material by artists such as The Jackson 5, Earth Wind & Fire (and more recently Vulfpeck), ‘Back To The Day’ is Lack of Afro doing what he does best and then some – blending the old and new with big drums and heavy percussion to come up with a crossover classic that’s entirely his own, whilst all the while developing his abilities as a songwriter.

Providing a dynamite vocal once again is regular collaborator Elliott Cole. Not just the voice of the track, he also plays guitars and bass, whilst ably backed up by some stellar musicians including George Cooper (Haggis Horns) on keys, Rory Simmons (Blur, Jamie Cullum) on trumpet, string and horn arrangements and Harry Harding (Yola Carter) holding down the backbeat on drums.

Keeping the dancefloor packed and turning the party vibes right up to 11, ‘Take It Up A Notch’ (featuring the brilliant Wax & Herbal T and taken from the critically acclaimed ‘Back In Business EP’) completes what is arguably one of the strongest single packages of the year!

Lack of Afro continues to go from strength to strength. 2016’s ‘Hello Baby’ (released on his own label LOA Records) picked up a BBC 6 Music ‘Album Of The Year’ nomination & appeared in the Top 10 of the iTunes R&B / Soul chart in 21 countries worldwide. More recently, Adam’s music continues to be used across all aspects of film & TV by networks such as ABC, Fox, NBC, Sony Pictures & the BBC whilst he also has released music on Universal & Warner Brothers Records.

Both tracks are taken from the new album ‘Jack Of All Trades’, released on LOA Records in May 2018 and supported by a live band UK tour in May & throughout various festivals throughout the summer.

Shazse is our new French host from Ibiza. For his first « Eclectic » Ep, he gives us a track of the same title which is literally a dance floor killer. It is made of a catchy basseline, a melodic groove that sticks to your mind, and a lead that makes you want to travel the world ! 
The second track « Maryjune » is the exact opposite of the first one. Let us explain : this is a disco/house sound thanks to which Shazse started to be known, with the use of something crazy that comes from the past, the vocoder from 2000s. « Maryjune » is a summer track but remains perfect to be played in clubs ! Shazse has clearly made an EP which shows his full musical spectrum spanning from disco and techno.

Never one to be constrained by musical genres, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Adam Gibbons (aka Lack of Afro) has taken it up several notches with his sixth studio record ‘Jack of All Trades’, a multi-genre tour de force that combines soul, funk, hip-hop, disco, rock and everything in-between, all wrapped up in his signature chunky production to create arguably his finest work to date.

Next up on Kwench Records is Tuccillo, an Italian house matriarch whose reputation as one of the most prolific producers in the current scene is the result of accumulating skills and knowledge across two decades. 
The Unblock Music label chief debuts on Cassy’s dance floor-orientated label after closing his three-month Ibiza residency Déjà Vu at HEART Ibiza, a summer smash that had him joined by booth legends DJ Sneak, Tony Humphries, Satoshi Tomiie, Jellybean Benitez, DJ Pippi and Tania Vulcano, among more.

Considering where Tuccillo has been utilising his skills this summer, first out the bag is the aptly titled ‘Get Loca’. Expanding his repertoire of super-deep, warm house grooves, this track is a sublime marriage of rolling drums that are elevated by seductive, softly spoken vocals. ‘People’s Dreams’ keeps the heart of the dance floor in its sights with muscular, clattering drums and horizon-gazing pads. Title track, ‘Questions’, is a solid, late-night entry that packs a hammering kick, with squelching beats, soul-warming chords and a vocal sample that encourages positive introspection.
