Paul Oakenfold - Radio 1 Essential Mix, The Goa Mix 18-12-1994

For many years I have been making mixes, almost all have been electronic, except for two. In the midst of this global crisis, I thought I would make an ambient chill out mix for anyone who is working from home on a computer and would like a musical companion for 34 minutes. To explain a little bit about the mix, there are a total of ten tracks, some of which are longer than others (I did not produce them). The mixing is quite dense, with some tracks laid directly on top of others, creating a cacophony of sounds that may require a second listen if interested. Originally meant to be 60 minutes (however I would not encourage that someone be in front of a screen for 60 minutes straight if working), I revisited the length and decided to shorten it. The mix hits a few peaks, most especially during the instantly meditative Shiva Manas Puja by Onur Polat that gently crawls into Jon Hopkin’s stunning Sun Harmonics.  Sasha & Digweed protégé James Zabiela’s transformative classic composition The Healing makes an entrance towards the end to heal the most hurt at a time like this followed shortly afterwards by the avatar James Holden himself with his most recent trippy yet satisfying collaboration with WacAaw Zimpel. At a time like this, if you are looking for background music, do listen at a reasonably low volume, but if you’re more into getting lost in sound with a great pair of headphones, be my guest!
