Living legend Cosmic Force is welcomed on Something Happening Somewhere for an all-out electro affair including a collaboration with national treasures Legowelt and Orgue Electronique. As the name implies, Transmitting Illicit Logic is a tale that can’t be understood solely with our binary brain cells. Reality always escapes the corridors of the mind and fails to be caught in it’s believed opinions and oppositions. Cosmic Force is here to guide you through the maze and helps you to relax these muscles, trading it for a more direct energetic connection that will put you into hyperspace. 

Mighty Envy is an unforgiving piece of arp centred electro, pushing the envelope without letting go of the gas pedal. Pulsating bells along the way signal you onto the cosmic runway, there is no space left except to surrender. Haunted By My Past accelerates to even further places. Inspired by EBM it’s a funky dance floor workout in which a sexy AI tells you everything about you you’ve never wanted to know. The great digital escape, you’re trying to make way to the reboot button but finally find out the damn thing doesn’t exist.

In Transmitting Illicit Logic we first encounter an older AI model which got stuck in one of its own created habits and as a consequence is only left spitting out deranging synth arpeggio’s. After we pass him we find a doorway to a hidden bar… the rest is history. Grand Theft Auto meets stripped back robot moves. Finally, we have Silicon Scally remixing Transmitting Illicit Logic, warping you to an even tougher and weirder dimension.

I produced this cover song without using any MIDI data, stems or samples from the original song. Really it is more of a cover than it is a remix. I intentionally made it sound very similar to the original because I absolutely adore the original song and I was interested in paying tribute to it. This was produced using only the iPad app 'Korg Gadget'.

It was right after midnight as Dr. Polig headed towards the Isolated Testing Facility at Dexta Biolabs. Government orders had called for the immediate destruction of samples TR-38 – organic molecules of possibly alien origin, sourced from a meteorite impact site in northern Alaska. The samples were presently spread across 44 petri dishes at the ITF, and Polig accelerated his steps, resentful of the bureaucratic twaddle which had kept him busy for hours.
As he approached the facility he noticed something was out of place. The containment lab's security door had been left wide open, and the shift supervisor was not at his desk. Before any of this could sink in, another detail caught his eye: A faint blue glow was emanating from behind the airlock door.

Building on the outright success of his previous outings for Exalt Records, The Hidden Figure returns to deliver a sharp EP of pacey and shimmering acid on the UK South Coast based label. Across the four tracks he tackles a slew of styles - Oxendales Acid is a pacey chugger to open the release which moves into deeper electro dance floor feels on Confirmation Bias. On the B Side Helvetios embraces lifting synths and a gliding house energy rounded out by some uplifting introspective moments on Stolen Tears.

This EP seems a fitting end to a stellar run for this shadowy and mysterious pseudonym of Dublin based producer Paul Cignol. Releasing music for labels Computer Controlled, Further Electronix and Lunar Disco Records Cignol has become cultishly prolific over his decade long story. This EP is part of a final run for Exalt Records who will be closing the label at the end of 2020.

Finnish-born, Scotland-based DJ, producer and Acid Flash boss IDA takes her first steps into the label world with the launch of SÄVY, an imprint dedicated to exploring the different shades of music in relation to both emotion and art. Unwilling to be defined by categorisation or genre, the label will represent IDA's diverse tastes which are rooted in club-orientated music, and will provide a home for both upcoming and established artists. The first release is in the hands of Berlin-based techno producer Ryan James Ford who perfectly reflects IDA's love of acid-laced productions with Six Stair, a four tracker that blends contemporary and old school techno and breaks.

London Modular Alliance make their CE debut with the ‘Stray EP’ for Cultivated Electronics Ltd (CE’s vinyl-only sister label) in February.

London Modular Alliance is a collective that lies somewhere between a shop and a cult.  From their base in the former industrial warehouses of Hackney Wick, London Modular have been designing their own cases, working out practical ways of chaining multiple synths for live performance, selling units from their shop front, and taking themselves on the road to run workshops and gigs.  From the lazer-lit confines of sweaty clubs to the hushed environs of Tate Britain and the V&A, they fill spaces with the whoosh and sweep of man co-operating with machine, bringing the dynamics of dance music to the ideals of modular synthesis, and forcing anyone with ears to acknowledge the potency of the format once more.  With them, the sound of the future has returned.

The EP includes three intricately crafted modular Electro tracks from LMA, featuring soaring melodies and dappled beats that manage to extract depth and soul out of machines, alongside a punchy remix by Sync 24 that delivers a tough metallic groove to close the release.
