Ce n'était pas la première fois que je me rendais à Kingston Ontario, j'y étais allé l'été précédent pour des vacances, et quelqu'un m'avait offert un objet que j'ai ramené avec moi de l'autre côté de l'océan. 
Pas un objet précieux, just a gift and a smile.
Alors, je me suis dit que je reviendrai pour rendre la pareille. 
Malheureusement de partout  la guerre à ressurgi une fois de plus, une fois de trop, et je n'ai pu faire autrement que la prendre dans mes bagages, pour restituer un peu de ce qu'elle m'inspire sur scène, lors de ce concert unique.

For this episode of The Sunset Lovers, I've invited John Zahl to be my guest. Well-known as J.A.Z. among music artists, John is an odd-ball synth-pop edit maestro, passionate record collector, and Episcopal Minister who resides in Bedford, Upstate New York.

Through his deep crate of records and tantalizing sets, we will try to find out what oddball italo-disco and the Church might have in common. And we will get to meet closer with the fascinating South Carolina Episcopalian minister, who leads a community from a Church pulpit by day, and from behind the turntables at night, where he plays an eclectic variety of gospel house, Christian italo-disco, and rare synth music.

Originally from New York City, John was influenced by his father's record collection, after spending some time studying in the UK, John moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he threw Off/Beat which he co-DJs with his friend Tay "Party Dad" McNab. He continued to organize the yearly "Episco-Disco" parties in New York City, in the crypt of a centuries-old church. 

 As an extraordinary selector and an edit expert, J.A.Z. has been offering a unique perspective on underground club culture & dance music over the years, taking us every time on a very personal, transcendent, and spiritual journey through his record collection.
