With SIAMESE020 we have come full circle. Shiffer, our good friend, Siamese family member and co-graphic designer with Adrian Schweizer since almost day one, has created his most personal release to date. This EP has been recorded during a challenging time in his life and reflects the journey through profound variations of human emotions. Remembering his very first production 'Drunk on Hope' on our initial Anthology release, we’re proud to see how Patrik's music evolved into such a genre-spanning array.

The title track 'Black Ballad' illustrates the proverbial tunnel but also the light at the end of it. For us this opener hits the spot right where tears of sadness and joy meet. It's filled with Shiffer's uncompromising grooves and basslines, gently touched by a sublime melody.

'Her, Endlessly' and 'A Deeper Understanding' are two beautifully crafted tracks we love to play during longer sets. They perfectly lead the crowd into a state of mutual trust and sincerity. 'Her, Endlessly' is more on the house and instrumental side of the spectrum, while 'A Deeper Understanding' is a bit darker, moodier and more trippy.

'Memento' is almost industrial sounding, heavy and yet hopeful, possibly even resembling early Burial releases, so creative and powerful. I remember Adrian Schweizer telling me to drop everything and that I should listen to this immediately. Five minutes later this track has been signed.

When it comes to music I personally enjoy the most, 'Moorgarten' is right up there, an unexpected composition with a familiar vibe. This track actually motivated me to do a whole playlist of this kind of music - trip-hop at its finest. You could even argue this pays tribute to some of the great hip-hop instrumentals from the 90s. Listen to some of these and you know where I am coming from.

All in all a diverse, unique and very promising record that opens up a new chapter in Shiffer's musical path and lead him anywhere he wants to be.

A breakout act in 2021, gardenstate present ‘Inspirations’ (The Remixes): fourteen reworks of tracks from their debut album

gardenstate’s debut album ‘Inspirations’ was released on Anjunabeats in October 2021, following a string of well-received singles and a raved-up take on Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s ‘No One On Earth’. They’ve received DJ support from the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Tiestö, Oliver Heldens, Camelphat, Gorgon City and Lane 8.

Tracks from ‘Inspirations’ have resonated with dance music fans on both physical and virtual dancefloors. gardenstate joined Above & Beyond in London for their Group Therapy 450 celebrations, and supported A&B on the Anjunafamily Reunion Tour across the U.S.A. When not on tour, gardenstate have showcased their music through a series of stunning ‘Inspirations’ livestreams on Twitch, including their latest broadcast from Fagradalsfjall Volcano, Iceland

The ‘Inspirations’ remix package includes previously released remixes from Oliver Smith, Patrice Bäumel, Mollie Collins, Browncoat, Bart Skils, Falden and gardenstate themselves. In addition, the remix album features five new reworks from Amy Wiles, Alex O’Rion, AIR DIVISION, Pablo Oliveros and PAUZA.

gardenstate - By Your Side (Pablo Oliveros Remix)

Continuing a strong start to the year, Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Cream to the label for his debut EP. Whether operating solo or as part of the famed Cream and Deep Fog duo, Polish artist Cream has firmly etched his place in the history of progressive music. With a discography that dates back almost a decade, the Jarosław resident has showcased his music via 3rd Avenue, Beatfreak Limited, Deepwibe Underground, Ein and Proton Music, while earning continued support from genre tastemaker Hernan Cattaneo. Now, as 2022 begins to take shape, Cream adds Movement Recordings to his resume with 'Resonance' alongside a remix from Eric Rose.

The release begins with 'Resonance' which finds Cream drawing on the melodic sensibilities of his repertoire. It's warm groove commands a big presence from the outset, adorned with fiery percussion and rhythmic pulses to drive momentum forward. Cosmic effects steal the air, building anticipation as a melodic lead begins to surface, bringing emotional depth to the journey before initiating a heartfelt break. Cascading melodies and hopeful atmospherics marry beautifully across the expansive interlude, building emotion with each successive pass, before eventually giving way to a thumping drop and key changing finale.

The second selection 'Sinoma' continues the progressive tone set by its predecessor with a sleek, mid-set style vibe. Mysterious and mystical from the outset, a hip swinging groove sits at the foundation, as filtered effects and meditative loops converge across the first act. The narrative shifts into darker territory as the main break commences, with crunchy rhythms playing off swirling atmospherics, before smoothly shifting energy into a hypnotic conclusion.

The third and final original 'Vertigo' follows a similar sonic ethos but resonates on a deeper, more emotive level. Remarkably powerful, its fluid groove commands attention, moving through rolling contours and rhythmic pulses, while striking stabs and arpeggiated fragments add further bounce to the framework. Sweeping effects initiate the main break, eventually melting down to a reservoir of buzzing effects and shape shifting electronics, tactfully building tension and setting the stage for a free-flowing finale.

The release concludes with Eric Rose making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Resonance'. Based in the Ukraine, Eric Rose first emerged in 2015 with a trio of releases via Pleasure Records, before going on to land projects with Dear Deer and Timeless Moment, where his melodic house and techno sound flourished. Now famed for his recent offerings via ATLANT, Eklektisch and Heinz Music, the Kyiv resident artist brings his talents to Movement with a stellar rendition of 'Resonance'. Remarkably fluid and hugely energetic, it's a mix that stays true to the themes from the original, while adding a distinct astral quality. Wavy arps and offset chord stabs come in waves across the first act, building momentum with each successive pass as the main break approaches. Dramatic and emotive in equal measure, the centrepiece drifts from elastic-like lines and warm bass swells into a striking build and devilish crescendo, as the beats drop for an exhilarating final movement. A huge interpretation from Eric, which rounds out an excellent Movement Recordings debut for both himself and Cream.

Over the past decade, Egyptian-born, Barcelona-based DJ and techno producer Raxon has popped out a steady stream of twelve-inch singles, precision-tooled, for labels like Cocoon, Drumcode, Diynamic, Truesoul, and Ellum Audio. An alumni of Kompakt’s Speicher series – check the insistent, vibrating pulses of “The Ancient” and “Dark Light” on 2019’s Speicher 107 he boarded the Kompakt mothership with last year’s Sound Of Mind (KOMPAKT 433). A long-awaited debut album that is both for the dancefloor and the boudoir, traversing the heat of the club and the warmth of the home.

And just in time for what we expect to be a full return to festival season, “Sound Of Mind” got the remix treatment. Raxon takes on his ambient cut “Exit Station” and churns it into a minimal stomper. We welcome one of our favourite producers of the moment, Japan’s Wata Igarashi and he doesn’t disappoint delivering his signature trance fuelled techno to album favourite “El Multiverse”….last, but not least, the legendary duo Extrawelt went so far as to create two distinctly different remixes of “Droid Solo”. One keeps the float and meander of the original track but with a four to the floor drive that’ll work in any peak time set. Their Radical Remix embellishes on the breaks and beats of the original for the deep space heads.

Tim Engelhardt, Tibi Dabo, Powel, DJ Clea and Harald Björk have each reimagined a track off the Swedish budding star MOLØ’s debut project released on Jeremy Olander’s Vivrant imprint. 

Vivrant's second release of 2022 brings a stacked remix pack with five offerings from a who’s who of the next generation electronic talent. The project pairs Vivrant’s first lady MOLØ’s stupendous five-track debut EP ‘Luma’ with some the scene’s most enthralling names in Germany’s Tim Engelhardt and Powel, Spain’s Tibi Dabo and fellow Swedes DJ Clea and Harald Björk. 

Luma’ EP - Reimagined breathes new life into what’s already pegged as a future Vivrant classic debut. Sonic styles in the pack range from Watergate mainstay Tim Engelhardt’s technical and ethereal take on lead track ‘Luma’, Crosstown Rebels star Tibi Dabo’s choppy and groovy reinterpretation of ‘Norrø’, Anjunadeep standout Powel’s cinematic and serene approach to ‘Bennebol’, renaissance woman DJ Clea’s eclectic and experimental remode of ‘Kogi’, and last but not least Cocoon’s man of the hour Harald Björk’s enchanting rework of Jeremy Olander collaboration ‘Vanadis’. 

After being the talk of the town on the local underground scene in Stockholm for years, MOLØ was discovered by Olander in 2018 after submitting a promo mix with hopes of getting an opportunity to open for the Swedish star. The mix made an impression. The young talent landed not only an opening slot, she was also signed to his label and management.  
 
MOLØ proceeded with releasing her debut original on Vivrant a mere 18 months after opening up Logic for the first time. The single ‘Vanadis’, a collaboration with Olander, streamed over 1 million on Spotify alone, and was followed up with five-track solo debut ‘Luma’ EP in late 2020. The project made #3 on Beatport, received coverage by Beatportal, Swedish National TV, Swedish National Radio P3, Radio FG, Kiss FM and saw support from Moscoman, Nick Warren, Kevin De Vries, Above & Beyond, Guy J, Whomadewho and more. She capped the year off with a nomination in the dance-category at the Swedish Independent Music Awards.

Since then there’s been no rest for the wicked. MOLØ released remixes on Moscoman’s Disco Halal for Duccio and UK powerhouse Anjunadeep for Eli & Fur, originals on Marc Romboy’s Systematic as well as hard-hitting peak time single ‘Vemode’ on Vivrant, which received a world premiere on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix by Whomadewho.

The long lost son has returned to the mothership! Or at least, that's how it feels now that we have Arjuna Schiks back on one of Manual Music's labels. The prolific Amsterdam based producer has mostly been absent from the scene for quite a bit, focussing on other musical projects and endeavors, but he's been incredibly active in the studio over the last couple of years and we're happy to welcome him back.

The release of 'Homestayer' is a good start, as this has been one of Arjuna's well sought after tracks. He has been including this one in his live sets for many years and now this beautiful little gem finally sees the light of day with a well deserved release on Manual Deep!

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
If you can't spot a trend in my current likes it may be because it is diverse. I love listening to all my playlists which contain tracks that I like and if you like any of the music you must thank the artists not me.
