Elliott Smith is one of my songwriting idols, simple as that. Sometimes I really feel like the emotional songwriting part of music gets a bit lost within the dance music world, which was a big reason I picked this amazing song to cover. I just wanted to try and do my best to honor such a great musician and one of my favorite songs.

I'm giving this song away for free (you can download it by clicking the above link) because I have an EP coming out on November 9th that I'd love for everyone to check out when it comes out. Its called the Embrace EP and its 6 songs, including my brand new single "Embrace". Shormey realized her passion for making music when she was 14 and would work on making beats in her room. She developed her talents and was ready to begin making solo music at age 21 and while she still makes music in her bedroom, her sound has evolved to something she’s ready for the world to hear.

It’s hard to exactly pinpoint Shormey’s sound, but it’s characterized by the disco-esque, feel-good vibes of the 70’s. She’s got an old soul and pulls a lot of musical inspiration from artists of that decade. She’s released songs online and has curated a mini EP that she hand personalized herself, titled God Bless Bob Ross: A Collection of Low Fidelity Recordings, which she hands out after her performances.

Shormey currently lives in Chesapeake, VA, but she’s done shows in Richmond at Gallery 5, Strange Matter, and various house parties. She’s looking forward to putting out more music in the near future.
