DJ Willie Dee's Classic 1990's Hardcore Mix

During the Pandemic, I was lucky enough to be asked to be involved in doing a Live-stream for the team who are raising funds for the British Heart Foundation Charity. Tom Wilson was a legendary DJ and radio Presenter who championed the Scottish Dance Music Scene and was a true Pioneer for several DJ's all across the Globe.
 
For this mix, I wanted to play some of the anthems from the early 1990s that always reminded me of Tom Wilson. I also wanted to play them on Vinyl, the way that they would have been played back then.

The PopCulture Trance mix of Adele's 'Someone Like You' was made over a decade ago exclusively for my set at the last Inside Out event at the Arches in Glasgow on April 2011. This caused quite a stir on several forums [Remember them?] back in the day as many 'Purists' disliked any form of Trance that covered Popular / Chart music. 

It's funny how times and music have shifted with many Artists are now playing sets that are predominantly Trance reworks of Chart music.

Nevertheless, I thought I'd put this up for Free DL once more as I still get requests for it to this day.

This was my third year playing at Trancefest and this was my favourite edition yet. I had the best time and it was great to see the Vinyl Arena fill up so quickly with it being at capacity during my set. 

It was awesome to spin these tunes out again on a set of 1210s in a club environment. I had a bit of trouble with the monitors as it was the opening set so the mixing is pretty raw as you would come to expect with Vinyl however, I hope this doesn’t detract your enjoyment of the mix.

Forgotten Moments 011 - One More Tune! [November 2023]

Here is a copy of my set from the One More Tune event which was held on the 23rd December 2023. 

I had the honor of being one of the guests for the Official Pre-Party at Vega which was on before the main event at the Arches. It was a wicked event that was full to Capacity and was the perfect start to what was sure to be an emotional return to the Arches venue for so many people, including myself.

This set comprises tunes from all of the main Artists who were playing and also contains some of the biggest tracks that I rinsed during my Residencies at the Arches for both >>Inside Out* and Colours, who I still regularly play for today. 

One More Tune was a truly special event and brought back so many memories for everyone who was there, and I would love to do it all again in 2024.

I recently came across an old hard drive and found a tonne of my mixes from the late 1990's. 

For those who may not know, before the Internet was the thing that it was now, several Glasgow DJs [Including Myself] used to be heavily involved in Pirate Radio stations.

I have great memories of playing Happy Hardcore Vinyl 5 nights a week on a set of Technics 1210's for several hours, while taking hundreds of shout outs from listeners in Glasgow.

This is a live recording of my GBX guest mix for our Barry Connell 10th year anniversary tribute night which was held on the 12th May 2018 at SWG3 in Glasgow.

Bryan Kearney, David Forbes, Paul Webster, Shan, Stewart Green and More all featured on the bill.

It was an awesome night and we raised thousands of pounds for Meningitis Now. A great charity which is still really close to my heart after all these years.

Gigs like that don’t come around that often. Originally, when I heard that I was on at the same time as Kimmic, I was skeptical about just how many people would still be left in the Trance room. Thankfully, the room was packed  for the majority of the night and it was a complete roadblock for my set. 

Always humbled and honoured by the support of my home crowd and you guys have never let me down in all the years I’ve been DJing. Hopefully that made up in part for the postponed Colours 29th Birthday gig. I’ll see you all there on the 2nd March 2024 at SWG3 in Glasgow.

William Daniel x Kimmic & Friends Free Party x Classic Grand [03/02/2024]

Many years ago before the rise of social media there was a mix that was uploaded to various Forums such as TranceAddict and Trance.Nu by a member called BlackPlasma entitled the History of Trance.

After all these years it’s still one of my favourite mixes of all time. It was originally released in 3 parts due to it being over 8 hours long and the limitations of internet upload speeds back then. 

Thankfully I have found the original file and have merged all 3 parts together so you can enjoy it in all of it’s entirety, it really is a true journey throughout every single trance classic from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s. 

No one really knew who exactly BlackPlasma was with many speculating that it was a massive name such as PVD, Ferry or Armin due to how well the mix was executed. 

Highly recommend you listen to this if you love Trance as much as I do.

I had so much fun attending this years Luminosity Beach Festival in Holland, so much so that I adopted a Pink Flamingo called Flugelhorn. 

Alongside attending the renowned 4 day Trance festival, I was also selected to play at the Afterparty. Which was a little bit crazy and a complete roadblock on the Saturday. Apologies to the disappointed people who came down and couldn't get in when I was playing (I'll make it up to you Daniel and Bryony). 

For this set I played tunes that sum up the festival for me and it contains music from the likes of Jon O'Bir,  David Forbes, Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Solarstone, John O'Callaghan, Daniel Kandi, Ferry Corsten, Vincent De Moor and many more. Big shout out to all the new and old faces I met over there, and for those of you who said I was crazy for driving there and back, you are absolutely right. There aren't many festivals that I would drive 16 hours each way for however, Luminosity is one of them.

For this edition of Coloursfest I played the GBX Anthems outdoor stage for the very first time. It was awesome to catch up with so many friends and colleagues this year. Having the opportunity to close the arena was something that I'm so thankful for.

I had so much fun playing at Element Vs Synergy in Glasgow. It was an honour to be closing the night after Alan Morrow and Lostly who are both Artists that I respect immensely after seeing them smash it at so many gigs. 

You can't beat a packed crowd full of knowledgeable clubbers who are very passionate about the tunes, Glasgow never fails.

A huge thanks to Billy, Gary, Stacey, Paul and the rest of the team for putting on such a wicked event and for looking after me so well. That was one for the memory books, and the perfect warm up for my 1st ever OTC: Vinyl Fantasy 001 on the 19th October 2024 at SWG3.

Forgotten Moments 014 [December 2024]

Although I’m primarily know for playing Trance , Techno and the Boom Boom music of a much faster pace, I’ve always had an affinity for deep sounds, due to my musical education working alongside legends at 23rd Precinct back in the day. 

I quickly put this set together for travelling however,  I enjoyed it that much that I decided to share. It includes tracks from Rufus Du Sol, Marsh, David Forbes, Hot Since 82, Yotto, London Grammar and many more.

Forgotten Moments 015 [Deep December 2024]

I had such a blast playing alongside some of my all time DJ Heroes at the Ultimate 90s Rave event at the Classic Grand in Glasgow. I had the honour of bringing in the bells at Midnight in Room 2 which is always fun.  

I don’t get the chance to do these type of sets often these days, and it encompasses some of my favourite tunes across the Hard House, Old Skool and Trance genres from an amazing era for music. I know you will enjoy this trip down memory lane. 

Massive thanks to everyone who celebrated with me and had the room rocking. It was a great way to round of an amazing year for me.

William Daniel Autumn 2025 Mixtape

Trancefest 2025 at SWG3 was an absolute whirlwind, and this one meant more to me than I can properly put into words. The mix is packed to the rafters with fresh material, a few stone-cold trance anthems from the last quarter-century, and those wee exclusive on-the-fly edits I can only ever pull out when I’ve got a tight hour to make every second count.

A massive heartfelt thank-you to every single person who came down, threw their hands up, and sent such kind words and beautiful feedback afterwards. Your energy genuinely carried me through a set that was far tougher to play than I ever expected. November has been an incredibly heavy month after losing my wee Border Terrier, Rolo, on the 1st, and it has left a space at my feet and in my studio that I still don’t quite know how to fill. He was always there when I was digging through tunes, head tilted, keeping me company as I built these sets.

So this set, this one was for him. Love you always wee Scrappy Doo. ❤️💫

Closing the Arches for One More Tune was a genuine honour, a final chapter in a venue that shaped so much of Glasgow’s underground story and my own journey within it.

It captures the energy, freedom and spirit of those nights, and stands as a small tribute to a space that changed my life and gave so much to the city. William Daniel’s passion for electronic music began at a young age, growing up in Scotland during the golden era of trance, techno, and house. His first exposure to underground music came through pirate radio, where he discovered the raw energy of unfiltered club sounds. Listening to these illicit broadcasts fueled his desire to become a DJ, and before long, he was making his own mixes and experimenting with turntables.

In his teenage years, William became involved in pirate radio himself, broadcasting underground dance music to local audiences. These early experiences sharpened his skills in track selection, blending genres, and understanding the energy of a set - skills that would later define his career. His dedication and natural talent behind the decks quickly led him into Scotland’s club scene, setting him on a path to becoming one of the country’s most respected DJs.

William’s career took off when he secured residencies at some of Scotland’s most iconic club nights, including Colours, Inside Out, and Freefall at the legendary Arches nightclub in Glasgow. The Arches was a cornerstone of UK clubbing, hosting world-class DJs and unforgettable nights.
