Early on, it was tireless leg work and skilful A&R that built his Fullbarr into a revered and forward thinking label (that released music from Luke Solomon, Hans Berg, Losoul and more) whilst 2015 saw him pour equal dedication into the music scene and co-found the now respected and reputable KMAH Radio in Leeds.

As a DJ he has played everywhere from Fabric’s famed Room One to Twisted Pepper in Dublin via many other haunts around Europe, and has therefore armed him with an innate knowledge of how the ‘floor works and how to move it.

Developing a hypnotic, late night style that flexes the funk of house with the drive and power of techno, he is an infectious character with an equally infectious sound.

This latest mix from the man is a horizontal one, inspired by warm and lazy afternoons, steamy sunsets and intimate moments away from the club. Classy and contemporary, it touches on many forms of absorbing ambient and cannot fail to sooth your mind, body and soul.

The debut release from Russo sees this promising producer deliver two cuts of superb deep and techy house backed up with a hugely impressive remix package.....
 
Bradford based label, Fullbarr Digital has been building a solid reputation during its first year, gaining support from the likes of DJ Hell, Slam, Terry Francis, Timo Maas etc. Part of the key to their success seems to have been their signing of exciting new talent whilst using more established producers to carry out remix duties and it’s that approach that has been employed to great effect on this latest single.
 
‘Manitoba EP’ is the debut release from Sam Russo, a 23 year old emerging techno talent from Southend-on-Sea. Russo has been developing his own take on house and techno and his Dj abilities have been rewarded with a residency for Mr C, at his Superfreq night in Southampton as well as regular gigs at London venues such as SeOne, Pacha and the Aquarium, now it’s time for him to step up as a producer and show what he has to offer.
 
The EP kicks off with the original of ‘Fuck my MPC’, a deep and pulsating house cut built around tight beats, deep keys and some rather risqué spoken word vocals. First of the ‘Fuck my MPC’ remixes comes from Cecille and Tsuba artist Huxley who shows why he is such hot property at the moment with an incredible slow mo house reworking that is deep soulful house personified. Next up we have the uber talented engineer/producer/artist Saytek who takes a tough and hypnotic approach with his wonderful techy bass driven remix.
 
The second original track comes in the form of ‘Manitoba’, a warm, pad drenched slab of deep house that oozes class from every bar and shows incredible musical maturity for this young producers debut release. The two remixes of ‘Manitoba’ are supplied by Canadian electronic music hero Nitin who delivers a stripped yet wonderfully organic sounding slice of house and UK based dub techno producer Youandewan who turns in a truly sublime slice of deep and mesmeric tech house.
 
To round the package off there is a final mix of ‘Fuck my MPC’ from Nick Jun who provides a superb alternative version that draws on discordant FX, percussive loops and bumpin bass to create a solid piece of house.
 
The ‘Manitoba EP’ is a superb release from an up and coming label, a brand new producer and some of the hottest underground house remixers around, not to be missed.....
 
Russo’s ‘Manitoba EP’ is due for release on Fullbarr Digital in September 2010.

Already a sell out 12” last year and now featured on the new Watergate Compilation mixed by Le Fleur. Hans “Machines” EP sees a digital release which includes Ed Davenport &  a special added remix from new Fullbarr signing Ste Waite.

Having found its way into may vinyl DJ boxes over last summer including Dixon who used it for his Bolier Room ADE special mix and Midland rocking the discoteca at Space, Ibiza its now chance for digital DJs to grab the action.

 Now Swedish born, Berlin-based Hans Berg, delivers classy techno that fits perfectly amongst the back-catalogue. Berg has been developing his sharp and distinctive works for over a decade now and is currently collaborating with Swedish video artist Nathalie Djurberg, designing soundscapes for her highly praised art installation, showing Berg’s ability to push further afield from straight electronic productions.

Trippy techno cut, ‘Machines’, opens the release in style, with wavy synth shots that percolate throughout, constantly shifting key and warbling in pitch to create a wild flare of dynamism. Background flourishing stereo delays on the percussive elements further fuel its infectious shuffle while saw tooth stabs are worked in, in a vociferous fashion complimenting the tracks intensity.

Take Fullbarr for example – a boutique label of love from the mind of 24 year old Arthur Barr. He’s not yet an established DJ, a hyped producer or anything else; rather he’s a fan of fine electronic music who wants to add to the global conversation with his own unique accent.

And he has been doing just that with an admirably DIY approach since 2010, fusing the depths of dub, the power of techno and the mood of house into mature and alluring soundscapes that take inspiration from “parties, music, artists and friends from around the globe.” It’s a simple and honest mission, and one that is serving the Bradford based label well, with support coming in from both on and offline press (think RA, DJ Mag, De: Bug).
