After almost 10 years of.... flutedrop, culture jamming, memes, dj sets, radio shows, live sets, festivals, flights, trains, vinyls, tapes, fanzines, Chin Stroke Records, croissants, clickbait, truths, lies, alteregos, takeovers, bringing artists together, poing, peng, fame?, mistery, silence, discordia, copyright takedowns, rare mp3s, tours, soundclashes, mixtapes, ringtones, pitidacos, and the list goes on forever.... is time to release my FIRST EVER ALBUM, titled BACK TO THE FLUTURE, a post-flutedrop 42 minute long sound journey.
I went back to my hometown (the same place where flutedrop originated) and picked my flute (the same flute I left unplayed 9 years ago when I decided to kill #flutedrop) thinking about the past but looking to the future (fluture?). with just one instrument and a microphone, I did let inspiration go thru my mind..... and the rest is history.

Earlier this year, SSC Napoli had a triumphant victory in Serie A. After more than thirty years, a Southern Italian football team has finally clinched the Italian league, marking a historic achievement for the city and the rest of the country.

The show aims to gather Neapolitan rap and Neomelodico – two key players in a thriving and uprising local music scene. Both scenes, characterized by music sung in the Neapolitan language, are imposing themselves despite the misundersting and marginalisation fueled by Italian national media. Expect hits, lesser-known releases, low-quality unreleased recordings sourced from YouTube and Telegram, live acapella performances from Tik Tok and an array of edits and mashups. 

This music context is a complex geographical spectrum, reaching far beyond the borders of Naples itself, extending across Southern Italy, particularly in cities like Bari, Palermo, and Catania, where the historical popularity of Neapolitan music originates from the pre-unification era of Southern Italy. But also, in Rome, Northern Italy, and among South Italian communities abroad – in cities like Stuttgart and Mannheim in Germany - due to the extensive South Italian diaspora present in Northern Europe and America.

Neomelodico, a music genre born in Naples during the eighties, emerged from the remnants of classical Neapolitan Music and Sceneggiata Napoletana. It is renowned for being played at weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries within working-class South Italian families. While maintaining a strong connection with Neapolitan musical traditions, Neomelodico singers reinterpret these traditions by infusing elements of folk music, pop-rock, hip-hop, and reggaeton influences. These influences often resonate with music genres like Romanian Manele, as well as contemporary Balkan, Arab, and Turkish pop music. 

In recent years, the genre has experienced a meteoric rise on various streaming platforms, amassing millions of streams and gathering thousands to concerts. Despite all of this, only a very few singers have secured record deals with major labels over the past four decades.
