Light Beaming Lives 

Inside on a March afternoon.
Removed from the rush and the fumes.
There is light beaming lives in this room.
And they're - both of them - fading too soon.

But there is no point worrying now
About the 'when?' or the 'why?' or the 'how?'
Just sit close, make the most, disavow
Everything that elsewhere won't allow.

But each ends
As a betrayal from a friend
Who'd project and protect evermore. 

And that red evening light's 
Such a sore, sickly sight:
Fuming at the first sign of night.

And I'm riled like a child who's ignored
Playing dead on an old kitchen floor.
But it's clear. It is true. It's assured.
I've seen worse. I've seen better. I'll see more.
