One of the best-loved Ibiza anthems and club cuts of all time Café Del Mar gets brand new remixes from the original trance master Paul Van Dyk. It’s such a perfect fit that it begs the question: why has it taken nearly three decades to happen? 

Nearly 30 years ago, Paul M aka Kid Paul, recording as Energy 52, unleashed a record onto an unsuspecting public that would go on to define club culture for an entire generation of dance music enthusiasts. Named as an homage to the legendary Ibiza sunset spot, Café Del Mar broke down boundaries between the underground and the mainstream, charting in the UK singles charts on three separate occasions and named as the “best tune ever” by Mixmag at the start of the new millennium. In terms of cultural and emotional impact in dance music, it’s hard to find a record that comes close. 

Café Del Mar has come to represent the most euphoric and hedonistic pleasures of dancefloors - in Ibiza and all around the world - and has been remixed by some of the biggest names in the industry. One name that’s been strangely absent though is that of Paul Van Dyk: a trance icon and a seemingly perfect fit for remixing a record of this stature. 

Paul Schmitz-Moormann (aka Kid Paul) and Paul van Dyk were close DJ buddies in the early Berlin Techno scene, and played around a hundred DJ gigs together, all around Germany and Europe, before they moved on in different directions. Now nearly 30 years later he’s finally got the chance to remix this iconic record. 

For the new release, Paul Van Dyk delivers two scintillating remixes. The XOXO remix slows the tempo slightly and employs crisp percussion and deep, pulsing bass while still maintaining the out- and out exhilaration of that epic breakdown, while for the trance purists the Shine remix delivers the atmosphere of the late 90s alongside the sharp production aesthetics of the modern day. 

Paul Van Dyk’s Café Del Mar remixes mark the first new release on the label Superstition Records after an almost 20 years hiatus. From 1993 until 2003 Superstition Records was a groundbreaking Techno, Tech-House and Trance Label and released some of the biggest and most revered records of the early German electronic scene.

This is such a stomper of a tune...I never tire of this rift...full on put you hands in the air...and fly....The flim flam mix is the only mix to listen to...I remember Guy Ornadel playing this...one of my all time favourites...

Solarstone & Scott Bond’s ‘3rd Earth’ has ever left a spark upon the dance floor. Standing the test of time for over 8 years, it has grown into one of trance’s biggest classics. As we head for its 9 year anniversary, it’s time to celebrate with a set of brand new remixes, by Max Graham and Heatbeat!

Richard Mowatt and Scott Bond, two UK producers that have helped shaping the trance scene into the massive scene it is today. Responsible for a range of legendary classics, it’s their collaborative ‘3rd Earth’ that truly stands out in the legacy of trance. This remix pack doesn’t only include the remixes by Max Graham and Heatbeat, but also the Re-mastered original, sounding just as powerful as the first time you’ve heard it.

Canada’s Max Graham, no stranger to classics himself, brings out the deep, warm and melodic side of ‘3rd Earth’, giving it a proggy treatment without losing its trancy character. Argentinean duo Heatbeat have the reputation to light things up, and so they do with ‘3rd Earth’. A bulky, big-bassed remix with strong synth-works is the result.

The voice of Australian singer Emma Hewitt has ever been the leading light in successful tracks of several leading names in EDM. This time, it’s her own tune ‘Rewind’, taken from her ‘Burn The Sky Down’ album, that gets a remix treatment, by producers tyDi, Dabruck & Klein, KATFYR and Mikkas.

It’s been nearly half a year since Emma Hewitt introduced the world to her very first artist album. ‘Burn The Sky Down’ received a very warm welcome, and its singles ‘Colours’, ‘Foolish Boy’ and ‘Miss You Paradise’ all became big successes. Still stretching the curve, Emma now releases the remix-pack of ‘Rewind’. A deep, powerful tune that invited tyDi, Dabruck & Klein, KATFY and Mikkas to create their very own interpretation.

German duo Dabruck & Klein, big fans of Emma, transformed the mysteriou s ‘Rewind’ into a rocking peak-time house tune, with immediate impact. Portuguese project KATFYR, who previously remixed Emma’s ‘Foolish Boy’, was also invited to drench ‘Rewind’ with their unrivalled Dubstep sound. Australia’s rising star tyDi shows his vocal-chop skills, and delivers a warm, melodic prog remix, while Mikkas brings out all colours with a big-room approach. Four original remixes, each with their own unique sound.
