LE SERVICE HUMAIN is Gabriel (Chabanel), Jean (ottoman.grüw) and Léo  (ROOM) ; a subversive gathering from different approaches, in order to  experiment with industrial sounds. 

Montreal Dances Across Borders (MDAB) is a series of solidarity  compilations bringing together artists of “underground dance music” in  Montreal (originally Tiotia:ke in the language of Kanien’kehá:ka people). This project is to remind that this music, embodied in spaces, is above all  political - and made to unite across all types of physical or abstract  borders. 
All profits of the compilations are donated to Solidarity Across Borders (www.solidarityacrossborders.org) — a non-profit organization that works to  protect human rights, active in Montreal since 2003.

"While making this album I was inspired by the scientific themes and topics expressed by both 1970s magazine "Radical Software" and 1980s magazine "OMNI" for their influence on the video synthesis and broadcasting culture of our present day. Radical Software arrived in 1969 at a time of major social upheaval. The Viet Nam war was raging and the loss of Martin Luther King exacerbated feelings that a war on race war seemed inevitable. The Nixon presidency amplified feelings of dispare but compelled many to imagine alternatives to the soulless, murderous culture in they were existing in. The urge to create new cultural structures, developed revolutionary video hardware that would play a pivotal role in accelerating the social change people desired. Authors of the magazine understood that change would only occur by increasing the level of social pressure. Through their reading of Buckminster Fuller, Gregory Bateson and Marshall McLuhan, they realized what needed to be changed was not the machines, but the instructions used to operate them. The social implications proved radical hardware was fine but what was critically needed was "Radical Software". The magazine became a form of social activism. It would be a forum, a video craft how-to-magazine, a rudimentary marketing and distribution system for the burgeoning community, and a journal of philosophical speculation and political opinion for all who shared their vision. The cover of the album is created by CINEMA.AV using LZX video synthesizers."

Conceived as part of an A/V show with visual artist Nicolò Cervello, ‘Kitbashing’ marks ABADIR’s third album for SVBKVLT.

A growing number of people spend an extensive amount of time watching, scrolling, liking, commenting on and sharing content, whilst at the same time feeding a constant stream of personal data to social media platforms. Social media can be fun and informative, or draining and dark. Either way, their algorithms are purposefully designed to lock users in a continuous state of scrolling. The more time spent online, the more desires, interests and emotions are fed into the algorithm for consumerist ends and reality is reduced to a timeline of curated aesthetics.

Using audio snippets from reels, suggested posts, and sponsored ads, sound objects are cut, micro-edited and meshed together into a collage. Tension is built gradually before falling into a release. Rhythms keep expanding and contracting, simulating the pace of random scrolling on mobile devices. ‘Kitbashing’ is an attempt to break the algorithm: subverting the dynamics by feeding on the algorithm instead of only feeding it.

With releases on Seagrave, CPU, Opal Tapes and Meds, Tom Knapp is perhaps best known these days for his SDEM project. Tempering progressive pattern work with the grainy echoes of obsolescence,  recent releases have emerged as a series of electronic maps of ulterior paths half-followed, charting impersonal zones traversed, mechanical entanglements undertaken and hallucinogenic spaces weathered. At times brooding, at times banging, SDEM offers more than satisfying studies in interference patterns and computer downrock. Ultimately, the project is inspired by a desire to crash out of the recognisable towards something wholly 21st Century, scrambling the codes towards a blaze of post-generic collisions.
