French producer Chloe Herry, better known by her stage name CloZee, has spent the better part of the last year on tour between North America and Europe. “Revolution”, her latest pay-what-you-want offering on the Gravitas Music imprint, could be seen as a reflection of those journeys. In some moments, the listener may find themselves deep in a lush forest surrounded by towering trees. Just the next minute, the surroundings morph into an underground venue among sweaty bodies all pulsating to the same beat. The true beauty of CloZee’s music can be found in this subdued yet intricate sophistication; the juxtaposition of elegance and detail create subtle contrast which can be seen swirling together upon observation of any of these five songs. 

Her graceful entrance begins with “Anticlimax”, a well named tune that focuses more on the evolving groove and tender melodies than any pronounced drop. The title track cleverly utilizes glitchy percussion to offset the orchestral and middle eastern harmonies. “Sankar’s Lake” gets the body moving with a catchy rhythm and flow, intelligently using bass to keep the pace progressing. Resolving on a haunting tone, “The Path To Heaven” again places focus on the delicate yet impactful drum work, culminating in a perfect conclusion for the album.

With the Ashki Chronicles EP we are proud to present the debut release from Germany’s Bios!!! The seasoned DJ, and owner of the renowned Saturate! label, has been honing his production chops and we have gripped up 5 icy grime originals to bless your ears!

The tracks on this EP are a carefully crafted collection of dark riddims ready to pummel sound systems, headphones and minds all over the world. While clearly a grime release, you can hear the influences of mechanized techno and tripped out wonky, through out, which creates a unique and moody flavor. Ashki Chronicles is rounded out with a remix by Yunis (of the duo Drill Drill) who turns up the head nod factor.

Bios is a powerful DJ and producer, approaching his craft from a uniquely musical background. He studied for a Master’s degree in low end theory during years of self-experimentation on infrasonic systems, which led to the invention of gazillions of genres – just to forget about them the next day! As if that were not enough, he founded the mega bass music label Saturate! Records in 2010, and since then the world hasn’t been the same – the laws of physics have been reversed, time has turned inside-out upon itself, and tectonic plates have shifted unwillingly. His never-ending search for the deepest, most destructive bass manipulations shall surely mean Bios will one day crumble the very Earth.

Slit Jockey Records has been painting a passionate and articulate view of grime and grime influenced bass music since 2005. The label is operated by Starkey, Dev79 and El Carnicero and has released artists such as Conrank, J Beatz, Mr. Mitch, MIK, Doshy, Trim, Lenkemz, J-Sweet, DJ Cable, Stagga, Virus Syndicate, Warrior Queen, DJ Shiftee, Riko Dan, Spooky, Rustie and Mattwizard.
