I’ve been listening to DnB since the early noughties (yes I am that old) - I started off listening to rock, then hard and industrial metal, and the super aggressive styles of neuro and techstep coming out at this time really appealed to me. The idea of listening with a longer attention span was also a revelation - not just 3, 4, or 5 minutes for a track, but really being taken on a journey for an hour (or more!)

I dabbled with DJing in my early days of being into DnB, but never had the time or money to really get into it - it was actually my son expressing an interest a few years ago (he was 8) that made me remember it was something I could get into again. Since then I’ve found some amazing online communities, made some great friends both online and in person, been lucky enough to have had several opportunities to play out live, and have joined up with several other local DJs to form the Burton Bass collective. We’ve been able to put on several nights in Burton and start a little grassroots scene, which has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

The mission of Full Spectrum really resonates with me - the rave scene has always been a place where acceptance and equality should come first, no matter who you are. As a DJ, it’s often too easy to just play the tunes and not pay much attention to the people behind them; taking the time to pay attention and showcase some of my favourite women and non-binary artists has been a real treat, so I’m really grateful to Full Spectrum for the opportunity!

Joanna O. has been a fixture in the U.S.A. Drum & Bass scene since 1998, known for her smooth mixing and deep selections that blend soulful liquid and jungle influences. With a career spanning over two decades, she has played an integral role in shaping the sound of Drum and Bass music in Richmond, Virginia, and beyond.
From 2003 to 2016, Joanna owned and curated Turnstyle, an all-vinyl record store and streetwear boutique in Richmond, which became a hub for underground music and culture. Today, Turnstyle continues as a digital platform, supporting music, fashion, and art.
As a DJ and event promoter, Joanna has been instrumental in building and supporting the East Coast’s Drum & Bass community. Her experience and well-crafted sets have led her to share the stage with many of the genre’s most respected artists. In 2024, she joined 2TUFF, one of Washington, D.C.’s longest-running DnB crews, further expanding her reach. In 2025 she traveled to the UK to share her sounds and dancefloor styles with music label events from Intrigue Music, Soul Deep Recordings and Smooth n Groove Records. In 2025 she had two mixes featured on Kool FM / Rinse FM shows - The Motiv Show and Bailey’s Intabeats show where she was featured as Generation Next DJ.  
Beyond the club, Joanna has hosted “Frequency” on WRIR 97.3 FM since 2005, making it one of The USA’s longest-running electronic music radio shows. Broadcasting every Saturday from 9–11 PM ET, the show showcases her signature selections along with guest mixes from top names and up and coming talents in the scene.
Whether through her radio show, DJ sets, or mix series, Joanna continues to push the sound of Drum & Bass forward.
