Very excited to have @boninaaa in on the mix for our 43rd episode of FRiends and Family. Bonina is from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and has been working as a DJ since 2019. She's a resident at the Batekoo, Silicose and TUMULTO parties in BH,
actively researching and experimenting with bass and beats from urban
to peripheral rhythms of the Global South permeating between references to House, Ghettotech, Club, and Funk.

Gabriela shows the listener rhythmic connections that you may not have been aware of or paying attention to. She blends raucous party with galaxy dance brain knowledge. When I first put this on, within the first 2 minutes I had to exclaim out loud. Seriously, check this.

Syncope builds upon sounds from the 90s with a modern look, guided by subgenres of electronic music such as Detroit Electro Funk, Guetto House, Breakbeat, Miami Bass and Freestyle. Produced with a lot of sounds from the classic Roland 808 drum machines, with arpeggiated leads, Brazilian funk vocals and vogue samples. The tracks on the EP evoke speed, with car engine sounds and synths reminiscent of the pursuit of escape.

Através de 07 faixas autorais o álbum reúne gêneros como footwork, juke, breakbeat, jungle e dubstep, além de elementos de house e Detroit techno. Visualmente, a obra retrata a bagunça, o atropelo e a troca de energia entre dois corpos como um fortuno acidente, selando este encontro em um objeto artístico como parte de um processo poético, desenvolvido pela artista Rafaela Giacomelli.
