agree, the percussion here doesn't work too well, can be jarring without annoying I suppose

I have made this track using five instances of Full Bucket Music's (of Bjorn)MonoFury VST as my submission for this month's One Synth Challenge organized at KVR Audio Forum.

All the sounds that you hear in this track are made using factory presets of the VST (with some assistance from few third party FX). Deatils of the FX used are given in KVRAudio forum's OSC official thread.

Cloud Appreciation

The archangel Gabriel is tempted by the devil.  I'm not a religious guy, so apologies to those who are, if I somehow offend.  Somehow this track became this story described below in the listening guide (use/read at your discretion).

Production:
One synth challenge featuring Full Bucket's trio of FB 3100, 3200, and 3300.   Total instances, 35.  Details in KVR thread, but lots of Oril River and Old Skool Verb used.  3300 used for drums, 3200 for most leads. 

Story/Listening Guide:
Gabriel is surrounded by God's Grace and does good.  An emptiness appears which leads to Lucifer, unmasked and powerful.   The Dark One tempts Gabriel in various forms and Gabriel is tentative.   A conflict brews.  Gabriel begins his earnest defense in all of his goodness.  The devil retorts and a battle ensues.  The fight rages and sensing his loss, Gabriel turns to God in a plea for help.  Only the Devil answers and he wins the battle.  Gabriel's Fall is complete.

The chimes were sampled from a church service broadcast, and the birds were picked out of a larger sample using the ReaCoMa scripts. Everything else beyond kick and snare was performed or recorded by me in some way or another.
