To celebrate the release of our next EP of disco edits with Jacques Renault here is a little mix featuring tracks from the EP, some forthcoming edits from Admin and other bits we like.

When it comes to serving up floor-friendly re-edits of largely overlooked disco and boogie cuts, few producers hit the mark quite as consistelt as C Da Afro. The Greek producer has delivered tasty reworks for a dizzying array of labels over the years, none more so than the mighty Midnight Riot. He's at it again here, too, with what we believe to be his fifth outing on Yam Who's label. Choose between the rolling, jazz guitar-laden disco-funk bump of "The Shadow", the filter tricks and effervescent synthesizer/piano solos of cheery disco-boogie shuffler "Moving On Up" and the sparkling, Italo disco-meets-electrofunk brilliance of title track "Playboy Boogie" which is arguably the strongest moment on another fine EP.

Without doubt one of the most forgotten classic's of the last 30 years, Stex's 'Still Feel The Rain', now reworked by Moussa Clarke & Yak Gee into a new burning disco anthem with Yam Who? & Laurent Schark providing the remix action. The sensational New York vocalist Rachel Gavaletz in true diva style turns out a stunning performance, making this a Midnight Riot classic. 

'Still Feel The Rain' is a beautiful slice of Balearic pop soul from the Boys Own, Flying Records era and it was from those early 1990's hedonistic London clubs that evolved around the Gardening Club, Soho Theatre, Milk Bar scene, that Moussa Clarke & Zak Gee first met.

The four version are all dance floor based, Moussa & Zak apply 2 modern mixes and their live instrumentation. Yam Who? doesn't mess around, bringing a huge drum groove and 80's inspired touches which leaves us with French maestro Laurent Schark to literally tear things up with a mix so funky that Daft Punk & Breakbot would struggle to keep up with!

The catchy as hell chorus, killer horns stabs, funky guitar hooks and glorious strings make this record so highly irresistible, bringing us into the summer & making the Balearic spirit live on eternally.

We start this massive package with Soulpersona feat Princess Freesia who set the mood with a huge mix from the boss John Morales plus more remix action from the mighty Glitterbox don Dr Packer on 'Night of My Life. It's been a good year for Austrian scene stalwart Mannix Kling, who has supplemented his original deep and soulful house productions with disco-focused outings on Alpaca Edits. Here he invites us to "Dance All Night" via a three-track label debut for Midnight Riot. Our pick of the bunch is probably the title track, a loose and rolling, delay-laden disco-house affair that sees him build energy and impact via some serious filter trickery before unleashing sections from a bouncy, heavily orchestrated 1970s disco original. That said, many will gravitate towards the high-octane thrills of stomping, over-the-top disco-house smasher "True" (seemingly a version of a blue eyed soul/AOR disco number), while "Disco In The Sun" is another wonderfully camp, shirts-off number tailor made for beach-side parties and subterranean sweatboxes.
