C'est la partie pour un deuxième hommage aux producteurs les plus importants de notre musique bien-aimée. 

Aujourd'hui, nous entendons l'un des duos de producteurs les plus réussis de l'histoire. Jimmy Jam et Terry Lewis ont produit 16 singles numéro 1 sur le palmarès Hot 100 de Billboard et ont eu 41 chansons atteignant le Top 10 du Billboard Hot 100. Ils ont été les architectes des sons du milieu des années 80 et ont établi des normes avec. Tout le monde voulait sonner comme eux - ces deux-là étaient la référence pour tous les sons à partir du milieu des années 80. Un élément récurrent dans les productions de Jimmy Jam et Terry Lewis depuis le début des années 80 a été l'utilisation de synthétiseurs analogiques et de boîtes à rythmes comme le Roland TR-808 ou les synthétiseurs Oberheim.

Ils sont l'un des rares artistes à avoir réussi l'exploit d'écrire et de produire des tubes au cours de trois décennies consécutives (années 1980, 1990 et 2000) et ils ont remporté cinq Grammys et reçu le plus de nominations pour Producteur de l'année, avec 11 nominations, et ont reçu huit prix ASCAP de l'auteur-compositeur de l'année. Ils ont été intronisés au Songwriters Hall of Fame en 2017.
James Samuel "Jimmy Jam" Harris III. né le 6 juin 1959 à Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA et Terry Steven Lewis né le 24 novembre 1956 à Omaha, Nebraska, USA ont formé leur premier groupe, Flyte Tyme, au lycée avec Jellybean Johnson et Monte Moir. Cette formation est devenue connue d'un public plus large sous le nom de The Time avec une distribution différente et la participation de Prince. Le duo produit pour divers musiciens sous le nom de Flyte Time Productions depuis les années 1980. comme Janet Jackson, par exemple. Les deux ont produit un total de sept albums pour elle.

Harris et Lewis ont fondé leur propre label, Perspective Records, au début des années 1990. Des artistes comme Bobby Ross Avila, Smooth, Mint Condition, Lo-Key, Solo, Sounds of Blackness ou Ann Nesby sont nés. Ils ont également produit pour Boyz II Men, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani et Michael Jackson (Scream).

To celebrate the WFMU Record Fair, kicking off in NYC today, we've dug back into the digital archives (courtesy of Noah Uman), for an hours worth of Lord Finesse interview and a live DJ Mix. This all went down back in October 2011, for the last live show for Coffee Break For Heroes & Villains out of their New Jersey HQ. We were in the building with K-Def, Redefinition Records, and DJ O.Gee. 

Slice Of Spice will be running a table for all 3 days of the Record Fair (Fri-Sun), and we'll be joined at our table by DJ Amir (180 Proof) and legendary owner of Fat Beats records, DJ Jab, and both are bringing vinyl. As for us...we'll be giving out some free vinyl, and debuting some exclusives. Head to our listening station to be the first people in the world to listen to the D.I.T.C.
