Belgium’s Pegassi has been turning the heads of heavyweights from FISHER to Chris Lake of late through his fusion of trance, techno, and house. His 2022 remix of ‘No Type’ on Zeitgeist has garnered more than three million streams on Spotify, and now he looks to Patrick Topping’s unstoppable Trick label for his next sure-fire smash ‘Baby I Don’t Mind’.

“With the creation of ‘Baby I Don't Mind’, I aimed to craft a simplistic club track inspired by the music-making techniques of the nineties. I stumbled upon the vocal sample and wanted to incorporate instruments that are each used to their value. By working my usual workflow of trial and error, I crafted a straightforward techno track with a crisp groove and many different focal points” - Pegassi.

Funk Tribu will make his ARTCORE debut this December with a new EP ‘Viento’. The two-track release flawlessly showcases the Colombian’s ability to fuse elements of techno and trance in order to cultivate his signature “retro futuristic” sound.
 
Since coming to prominence, Funk Tribu has enjoyed a number of high-ranking positions on Beatport’s venerable dance charts. This year, he secured his first No.1 position with ‘I Want Your Love’, a collaboration with Oliver Helden’s and DIøN. While previous releases such as ‘Drummers’, ‘Phonky Tribu’ and ‘Platinum’ have peaked at No.15, No.4 and No.36 respectively.
 
Whilst the Viento EP marks Funk Tribu’s first outing on Indira Paganotto’s highly regarded label, the Bogotá native has already featured on a number of leading labels in the hard dance scene including Teletech, A Million / Groove Attack, Heldeep Records, and 44 Label Group. 
 
It’ll be fair to say that 2024 has also been somewhat of a breakout year for the young producer in regard to performing. Having been invited to record his first Boiler Room broadcast prior to the release of his anxiously anticipated debut album, ‘Against All Odds’, he headed to Amsterdam to host Intercell x Funk Tribu Invites at ADE before crossing the Atlantic for a North America tour comprising dates in Toronto, Los Angeles, Mexico City and New York. Whilst in his adopted home city of Berlin, his Speedmaster event series continues to blossom in popularity with its final show of the year at Watergate having already sold out. 
 
Launching with title track, ‘Viento’ provides a neon-lit rush from beginning to end whilst boasting a dulcet mix of galloping drum patterns, simmering pads and a delightful flute like melody. It’s both thrilling and somewhat serene in equal parts delivering an unpredictable jaunt through an unnerving, whimsical soundscape made up of both fanciful overtones and daunting bass.
 
‘When The Sun Goes Down’ features on the flip and sees out this impressive debut with panache. Surging from the off by way of a fierce clap and kick combination, a rush of flanging ambience soon washes over the initial beat before a potent mix of grandiose strings and rapidfire percussion takes hold to close out yet another wonderfully eclectic ARTCORE debut.

Ihr wolltet es – ich liefere. Kein Einheitsbrei: Mein Mix ist pure Intuition, direkt aus dem Bauch auf den Floor. Kein stures Schema, kein Copy & Paste – sondern ein Sound, der euch spürt, abholt und gnadenlos nach vorne treibt.

Ich lese die Crowd, fühle den Vibe und mixe euch durch Berlin-Techno, Peaktime, Psy und Goa – immer auf Anschlag, immer am Puls eurer Energie. Was hier passiert, lässt sich nicht in Worte fassen. Es ist mein Rezept, mein Style, mein Abriss – und genau das macht’s aus.

Also genau das, was euch bei mir so gut gefällt. Und lieben Dank für euer zahlreiches Feedback, ja es stimmt, man kann diese "Rezeptur" in der Tat nicht beschreiben. Ich kann es nicht mal selbst beschreiben.

Res. Maha Augsburg – Afterhour

Mr. TroniXX – ein echtes Urgestein der Augsburger Nacht-Szene. Bereits Mitte der 90er als Black/RnB/Hip Hop & Party-DJ im legendären Disco Nightclub Karat in der Bahnhofstraße bekannt, entdeckte er früh seine Leidenschaft für elektronische Sounds.

Sein Handwerk lernte er noch klassisch auf Vinyl und baute sich schnell ein beeindruckendes Repertoire aus Trance, Hard Trance, Progressive und Techno auf – genau die Sounds, die Mitte der 90er die Szene dominierten. Als die Augsburger Techno-Kultur immer größer wurde, war er mittendrin: Das Excalibur, ein Katakomben-Club in der Armenhausgasse (und übrigens späterer Vorläufer der ersten Mahagoni Bar), öffnete bereits Mitte der 90er seine Türen und etablierte die erste große Afterhour der Stadt.

Jeden Sonntagmorgen um halb sechs standen bereits hunderte Raver Schlange, um sich den Einlass um sechs Uhr zu sichern. 
Der Club platzte regelmäßig aus allen Nähten – die Afterhour lief bis 12 Uhr mittags, weil einfach niemand gehen wollte, so waren die Zeiten seiner Zeit. Mr. TroniXX war fester Bestandteil dieser legendären Morgensessions und teilte sich die Decks mit vielen bekannten DJs der damaligen Zeit.

Nach einer längeren Pause ist er auch heute ab und an am Start:
Mit treibenden, hypnotischen Beats, die die Crowd abholen und mitreißen. Sein Markenzeichen? Unvorhersehbare, energiegeladene Sets, an kein Genre fix gebunden. Von Trance über Techno bis Hardtechno – und wenn die Stimmung es zulässt, nimmt er das Publikum mit einem überraschenden Abstecher in die Psy/Goa-Welt auf eine ganz eigene Reise. Gerade wenn alle glauben, sie hätten ihr Limit erreicht, zündet TroniXX nochmal die nächste Stufe – und die Menge rastet aus.
