Crosstown Rebels’ sub-label Rebellion returns with a fourth instalment of its ongoing SOULS series, with fresh tracks from a selection of exciting, up-and-coming talent.

Curated by label head Damian Lazarus, Rebellion’s excellent SOULS series has always transcended sounds and scenes to dig deep into the most forward-thinking new electronic niches. It has a deeply embedded spiritual theme, like most projects with which Lazarus is associated, and this volume again connects the dots between a number of innovative producers from across the globe.

Belgrade and Mykonos-based duo MĪMĪ x FY open up with ‘Robotic Mode’, linking with Estray for a silky synth- laced house cut that goes deep into a cosmic future. The deft chords, spoken words and sci-fi signifiers enrich the groove perfectly. Brazil's Vini Pistori is next with ‘Hypnotized’, a scintillating fusion of pixelated melodies and bright, starry-eyed chords over a drawn-out and languid groove that is perfect for the late-night hours.

Frequent collaborators MILI and Hoomance then step up with ‘Casa Mama’, a playful cut with a carnival feel thanks to the characterful horns which bounce about over the crisp drums. It's a track full of soul and sunshine that captures the joy of dancing outdoors. Israeli-born DJ and producer OMRI closes things with the rubbery bass and skewed synth futurism of his off-grid percussive masterclass, 'Funk Rhythm.’
Another taste-making statement from the label and Lazarus, Rebellion presents SOULS Vol.4 is loaded with the sounds of tomorrow across another excellently curated package.

A raw Chicago House heartbeat beats beneath glitching neon bleeps, while a vocal - somewhere between a prayer and a proposition - threads its way through the smoke. The break slows things down just enough to make you ache for the return of the beat, which lands not with a bang, but with the soft thud of resolution. "Melodie fr Millionen", originally released on the label 3000 Records, will now be released with the original track plus two remixes on Funkwerkstatt's label. To start with Anthik, wich has already released on Suara and Go deeva Records, in collaboration with Felipe Puertes. The two swiss guys transform the track into an absolut modern clubmonster. A catchy bassline, up beat arpeggiator sounds paired with timeless vocals turn this remix into a weapon for ever dancefloor.The second remix comes from the two berlin locals Dole & Kom, members of the 3000 community. Their upperdisco Dub is a little bit more relaxed and changes the track into a timless warm deephouse-chordmonster. The track will blow up every afterhour dancefloor in the early morning. Ten years. More than 100 releases and way more than 250 tracks. This is what the Hive Audio crew is looking back on in 2k20, celebrating their first two digit anniversary in 2k20 with the release of a massive compilation album in four parts which caters all together a set of 25 all time label classics created by long time friends and label associates as well as outstanding new talent all coming together under the flag of what we call „The First 10 Years Hive Audio“.

With this being said, the selection featuring on „The First 10 Years Hive Audio Part One to Four“, both as individual tracks as well as continuous bonus DJ mixes by Animal Trainer and Dario D'Attis on Part Three and Four, perfectly reflects the sound, setting and overall attitude of Hive Audio as a label in 2k20 and beyond, presenting both an outlook and overview of contemporary Zeitgeist and a bright future that lies ahead. To the next decade!

Responsible for the opener of the third part of our tenth anniversary compilation „The First 10 Years – Part Three“ is Einzelkind who is calling for a „Blackout“, weighing in a hefty, Breakbeat-infused House groove as well as a distinct, bleepy and minimalist synth motif before employing wild vocal filter techniques and brutal build-ups for the pumping high energy House crew on peaktime dancefloors.

For their second contribution to this part of the compilation album Sous Sol give us „Taonga“, a prime example of deep, athmospheric, percussive TechHouse grooves paired with seductive large scale synths, Tribal chants and well intermingling melodies.

Furthermore the artistic pairing of Definition featuring Pete Josef is in for „Caught Out“, a tune which has been remixed by Swiss staple Dario D'Attis. His take on the original cut brings forth interesting, ever repeating loop structures alongside raw vintage bass synths, sparkling, crystalline sonic clouds and an impressively longing, timeless vocal performance for most emotional experiences out on the dancefloor.

Next up on remix duty is Matthias Meyer who's taking over controls for a variation of Reto Ardour's „Bonfire“ which is a well sexy, timeless amalgamation of TechHouse and MinimalFunk defined by a hypnotic, spatial and dreamlike attitude as well as by hot, ever functional grooves.

With the next tune Definition is going all in for a remix, presenting his personal variation of „Honey“ by SOAME featuring Animor, presenting a panoramic vision of large scale TechHouse harmonies in combination with heartfelt, tender, emotional vocals for a result.

Up next we see Dario D'Attis tune „There's A“ reworked by Gorge, bringing forth a well positive uptempo attitude and gooey, somewhat Acid infused modulations for all lovers of timeless Techno and neverending nights out.

With „Orient Yourself“ the man Moses Mehdi gets back into the groove with loose percussion bits, masterly crafted filter breakdowns and a, well... , slightly Oriental vibe alongside decent glitch cut ups, perfectly fusing East and West within one tune and a little more than six minutes.

Finally Dario D'Attis & David Aurel are in for a closing with their cut „Cuentame“, waving goodbye with a very special take on Global Beats comprised of Balearic vocals and a warm, positive TechHouse swing for those in the know.

Following a supernova in the year 1999, the constellation Funkwerkstatt appeared on the firmament of the Party Galaxy. The project, called into life by Derrick Porter and Nicola John on their own label, Superfancy, is well known for its individual, fresh and novel style of electro, minimal and tech-house sounds. Numerous releases and remix projects, for fans of italo disco and kraftwerk sounds, are evidence of the artistically demanding accomplishments. Singer Dan Morro has woven his vocals into the instrumental tapestry of Derrick and Nicola since 2004, expanding the spectrum of the group's sound. Through their energetic liveacts, the trio keeps winning the enthusiasm and sweat of their audiences. After countless gigs both in the party scene of their home region and beyond, they are setting off, like a celestial storm, to course through the national and international club universe....
