It is our first LIVE recording since long time. It was made in Haus Mainusch in Mainz deep in the night of 14.01.2023. This is a kind of document of this epic event, a first really self made party by @machmallangsam collective after almost three years of absence!

Meet our mysterious, sexy and groundbreaking queer artist Thomas Costantin!

Thomas Costantin, DJ and sound/visual artist currently based in Milan. Since 2014, he is the resident DJ at the historic Plastic Club. He is a music consultant for numerous high-end fashion houses. His cosmopolitan soul has a deep attraction not only for music, but also for cinema, costume, analogue photography, vintage atmospheres and technicolor. 

The liveliness of Red is the color that best represents his work: intense, energetic, deep.


*What pushed you towards music production? Where did the inspiration come from?

When I started to produce, around 2018, I was listening to more or less 12 hours of music every day, playing 3 or 4 nights every week. I was thinking that I also wanted other people to listen to my music, to create something new to share with my community.

* Do you think music interconnects with culture?  How does the environment you live in affect your music?

Yes, absolutely. Especially nowadays music is really melted with all the rest of art and cultures. I see music as the perfect way to express, also images and ideas.
Music and life are super connected. I am really inspired by people. My friends and other artists really help me in my endless music research. I am attracted to the different mixes of cultures in music. 

* Do you get inspired by any other form of art?

Sure, I love to paint also, especially with water colors. I love cinema, especially the vintage ones and I’m used to working with images, actually I see myself sometimes more as a multidisciplinary creative director than just as a music artist.

* What makes a set a good one?

The selection of the tracks. Technique is also important, but I think it is nothing without a good selection. When you play music you also play with emotions.

* What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead?

It is quite instinctive but I also work every day on archives and on folders in my computer. I play lots of different sets, with different sounds and vibes, for different crowds, so I absolutely need discipline and order.

* What would you like to say about your podcast?

I am very happy to share this set. It was a very special night with the Kanto family in one of my favorite cities, which actually is Paris. Honestly, I can’t wait to play with them all together!

It’s funny how sometimes, you know that you’re boarding a vehicle to go on a trip without knowing exactly what the destination will be. Our next Urban Cosmonaut Radio Ship pilot  #28, Luis Rosenberg, is known for doing just that - showing himself and his passengers just how many colours of the rainbow exist, and how many ways there are to explore them.

If Luis Rosenberg were an art collector, people from all over the world of all ages and tastes would stand in line to admire his exhibitions. The Austrian born, Berlin-based DJ has a refined taste for music that makes him truly un-prejudiced. He doesn’t discriminate in his choices - as long as it has groove, it will catch his ear. 
Luis tends to select tracks for his eclectic sets that are interchangeably timeless, unique and innovative - a tendency that is reflected in the music of his biggest influences: Bob Dylan, Nicolas Jaar and Acid Pauli. Having started out of passion in 2006 with A Numark „DJ IN A BOX“ set, loads of vinyls from the flea market and a cassette tape recorder to record his first mixtapes, this next mixtape is one that will surprise you, make you smile in recognition and gasp in surprise at the lack of genre boundaries or style restrictions. As a wise man once said: anything goes, as long as it has groove. 
To quote Luis’ favourite sentence in “Never Ending Story”: Fantasia is the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefore it has no boundary.

The Olmec culture was defined and unified by a specific art style. Crafted in a variety of materials—jade, clay, basalt, and greenstone, which is an archaeologist's term for carved, green-colored minerals—much Olmec art is naturalistic. Other art expresses fantastic anthropomorphic—human-shaped—creatures, often highly stylized, using an iconography reflective of a spiritual meaning. Common motifs include downturned mouths and cleft heads, both of which are seen in representations of were-jaguars and the rain deity.

It's been a long time since we started this project and we met some fantastic people on our way. Nevertheless there are two boys who live half a continent away and are at the same time as close to us as they could possibly be. It's good to know that there are people around who share the same vision and Geju (@g-e-j-u) definetly work magic when it comes furthering the genre. Their history of countless performances around the globe in combination with them hosting captivating events in their hometown, they truly are two stellar figures in this movement.
