On April 9th, Berlin based Thomas Fehlmann returns with his new album Böser Herbst. Produced as the soundtrack to a documentary made by Volker Heise, ‘Herbst 1929, Schatten Über Babylon’, which offers historical insight to the third season of the television series Babylon Berlin. It adds yet another string to the bow of this most forward-thinking and creative artist, whose history takes in NDW (Palais Schaumburg), techno (3MB) and psychedelic ambience (The Orb), plus a clutch of gorgeous solo albums that explore wide terrain, from the dancefloor through supine home listening to compelling soundtrack work.

Be lifted into the air by the glassy drones of “Umarmt”. It’s a music of temporal disjuncture and clairvoyant resonance, “speaking with the past – alert, distant and quixotic.” A taste of what is soon to come.

DJ Cira tastefully blends many flavors of house and techno with a keen ear for infectious, body moving grooves. With over two decades immersed in the scene, she selects from an expansive collection of modern jams and timeless classics. Cira's tracks span influences from garage and UK funky to the darker sounds of industrial, acid and electro.

Shortly before the release of his six tracker Universal Love on Will Saul's infamous Aus Music label, Andy Graham alias Sei A mixed and compiled the latest art:cast special for Torture the Artist touching the roots of electronic music with a mixture of spaced out House, dubby Techno and a portion of Acid. Just like when it comes to his own productions Sei A portrays a picture of diversity with this mix, still following one vibe or groove that lures the listener into the universal cosmos of the artist. Graham, who's been an Aus Music-mainstay since 2013 not only has released more than a handful EPs on the label but also two albums, namely Space in Your Mind and Kinetic Action. Besides Aus Music Sei A has put out music on labels such as Life And Death or Hemlock Recordings. With a career in the electronic music scene for more than a decade, Andy has probably seen it all and heard a lot, speaking of the latter the artist choose a new approach to music and put out an ambient and more experimental EP, Method One, under his real name on his newly founded AG-Sounds label. His mix for Torture the Artist things come full circle, because and as initially mentioned, Andy combines different various musical influences to create one coherent sound-experience.

Ranj Kaler makes his exciting full release debut with ‘Our One Love’. 

Something of a household name now for his incredible work ethic, it might come as a surprise to know up until 2020, Ranj was just a working DJ in the heart of London content to play other people’s music. But then upheaval - the pandemic - a time that brought sea change to many of us in the music industry. 

For Ranj, a moment to reflect and to learn new skills - production - which quickly became signed releases for Saturo Sounds, 64K and Four Candles’ Keep Thinking. His fanbase grew. New fans included John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo and from his incredible production style, remixes for Hooj Choons, Liaka Sounds and ARRVL, and bigger and better labels were keen to sign him up. 

Successful collaborations with Norman H on Stripped Digital and Fauxplay on Music To Die For have led to his first solo release of the year, and we are over the moon he’s chosen ASTIR. ‘Our One Love’ is a love note to dance music; an obsession decades in the making distilled into audio. 

In original form, synths soar against a strong percussive bedrock and chunky bass. warm sweeps glisten as icy pads rise in the background revealing intricate sonic detail that glitters in the periphery. Heartfelt and deeply emotional, this is Ranj unencumbered and in full mastery of his skills. 

On remix duties, crowd favourite Silinder makes a welcomed return to the fold honing the emotive elements of the original into his remarkable, unmistakable style, while label head Real Gone Kid takes a break from, uhh, breaks to drop a deep house vibe thick with soul.

Jack Priest was live with Third Son ahead of his forthcoming album for two hours of house, techno and disco. Lots of obscure gems alongside some unreleased bits all well.

Boasting a catalogue of distinctive music Funnuvojere turned two this year. Its eight release comes from Clarinets the new alias of Tbilisi based Gacha Bakradze. Invisible Path is the title of this EP, a name that seems to reference Gacha’s own nimble movements across cities and genres. It started in 2015 with a rather ambient LP with Apollo Records, and has recently seen him releasing a third LP with Barcelona’s Lapsus Records. Despite this new skin, Gacha’s identity can still be strongly felt in Clarinets.
The four tracks composing this EP highlight Bakradze’s mastership in designing harmonies. Graceful frequencies rise from the title track, driven by a steady arpeggio that builds and explodes in multiple directions. ‘Dry Bridge’ uses classic balearic sounds to decorate a powerful bass line, evoking an accelerated sunset at sea. The same balearic iterations define the deeply emotional ‘Knee’, in which the sound breathes and expands skywards. The closing track ‘Afternoon’ is a warm house ballad to round-off the last moments of a long after-hours session.

Hailing from New Zealand, Eden Burns is one of the artists who has steadily gained more and more recognition within the electronic music scene – quite rightly. With releases on Optimo and Public Possession the blithe spirit made artists notice the quality of his inimitable groovey music, which seems to be a positive highlight in these times. Most mentionable are his recent  EP Big Beat Manifesto Vol. II, which includes Invercargirl and 22 Dance Demo, and his remix for Berlin-based Aussie Bell Towers' track Maybe We Can Work It Out. It's this easiness and simplicity in his music - not to mix up with triviality – combined with intriguing chords and lush bass lines that makes any dance floor worshipper feel heard or relegated to a time when this was reality. And despite most club around the globe being closed Eden Burns chose exactly this approach to make music, designed for people joining each other on the floor and around, be heard again as he comes from a country where all this is possible and gives people a reminder of what they might be able to experience soon again – hopefully. Consequently Eden Burns' art:cast is a melodic hope, provided with a feel of nostalgia for many, of carefully compiled and mixed music that is needed in order to remember the beauty of a collective dance experience.

With its extraordinarily blue water Funnuvojere is a secret jewel presented to the Adriatic sea, cast in a rocky landscape, sparkling with grape vines and ancient olives. 
Funnuvojere is a state of mind, it is openness towards the unknown, it is curiosity for the blue depths. By presenting this music, the label aims to fathom the depths of contemporary synthesized music to showcase beautiful jewels of electronic production.
