It was late September when Tina and I set out one early morning towards Lake Fureso, north of Copenhagen. We had brought with us a few sandwiches, a handheld camera and the spirited anticipation of seeing sunrise.

Tina got up on one of the few rocks lingering around, wading through the water to get there. With cold feet she sat there, unmoving, watching the sun rise and with it feelings of long ago within. 

As a spectator in this piece we are invited to look deeply, something we don't allow ourselves to do in normal circumstances; afraid the person might notice us gazing and be freaked out about it, afraid the person might look back and see us as we see them. 

Nevertheless, allowing oneself to become absorbed in another being is a powerful tool for wholeness. We come to see the other as they are, past our own predispositions, and ultimately as not-other.
