Ryan James Ford’s productions are rarely anything other than inspired. Through regular releases on Marcel Dettmann Records, Answer Code Request and his own SHUT imprint, Ford has proved to be an exciting producer, capable of mangling sounds and styles to fit his wide-ranging musical vision.
The Berlin-based Canadian arrives on Happy Skull with a label debut that dramatically emphasizes the point. While each of the four tracks features audible nods to a wealth of influences and inspirations, the bold individuality of the resultant cuts all but renders such comparisons redundant.
For example, EP opener “Ormst Kaban”, whose wild, crashing, off-grid breakbeats and twisted, foreboding electronics aggressively spar with glacial chords and icy textures. The 16 bit arpeggio lines of 'Hobrv Kegdit' are underpinned by powerful sub-bass tones and industrial drum-breaks that merge to create a densely sprawling mass of dance floor melancholia.
This pattern continues throughout the EP, with “Slown Ridel” and “Nos Ummi” balancing skittish, noise-seeped percussion with the dreamy, glassy-eyed swell of classic ambient and pioneering early ‘90s IDM.

Cosmic Monkey its Latvian DJ/Producer who under his another moniker NEI , shares proper Techno/Electro beats since 1998' and he is next up on Seven Sisters Records, a label focusing on showcasing the best of Latvian underground music.
With this ebullient "Funk You Up" EP he brings the combination of a few styles with radical effect. Nothing is standard about its sound from the heavy broken beats to the thick and complex production.
Darker than the darkness and with menacing undertones, Cosmic Monkey delivers this thumping "Got Your Back" mix which would work well even on the hells dancefloor bringing break beat drums, toms and flange ridden hi hats to the fore before breaking down into an ridden synth groove which brings the fire to the dancefloor. PREMIERE #666 | Cosmic Monkey - Got Your Back [Seven Sisters] 2019

The midday sun scorched the tarmac and beamed down on the buildings that bordered either side of the wide street. The concrete and glass faces of each tower reflected and intensified the sunlight, forcing people to shelter from the heat in doorways and under awnings. A trader from one of the market stalls that lined the street wiped the sweat from his brow as he bartered with a customer, while a driver in a glimmering car tried to navigate their way through the immovable crowd. From one of the buildings, a girl watched from her window, completely safe from the unrelenting chaos that ensued below.

São Paulo based musician Frontinn is next up on ODDiscos, the label associated with ODD, a São Paulo collective that offers an alternative platform for expression. Marking the producer's debut album, Underlying Problems, matches spacious production and atmospheric harmonies, evident on our pick ‘Relentless Effort’; a steadily paced EBM-influenced cut with woozy synth lines, subdued percussion and repetitive bass.
