The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Justice - Essential Mix

Michael was the founder of, and resident DJ at, C64 - the underground breakbeat/tech house club which became one of the leading free club nights in London in the Noughties. 

C64 started in backrooms and bars in Farringdon in 2002, and quickly went on to become a bi-monthly, then monthly night. Appearing variously at The Key, Industry, Dust, The Arches, Cargo, via an assortment of dodgy boozers, various warehouses, countless afterparties, and the occasional police station, C64 would basically play anywhere that would have them. Or from which they hadn't been banned.

Somehow running until 2008, C64 was consistently nominated in the "best independent/small club night" at the annual Breakspoll Awards. It has to be accepted that this was a narrow field in which to compete. But C64 was regularly voted into the best 3 breakbeat nights in London at Breakspoll, and railed up against the might of FabricLive and Chew The Fat!. Sometimes there were more than 3 nights to vote for...`

C64 hosted amongst others, the Plump DJs, Deekline & Wizard, Soul of Man, Paul Arnold, The Freestylers, Slyde, Jem Haynes (Precision Cuts), Dopamine, DJ Friendly, Kickflip, Atomic Hooligan, Groove Diggerz, and the Breakfastaz.
