Tape is a small, but mighty, sample library that creates one-of-a-kind sounds from acoustic recordings that were originally captured through destroyed cassette and microcassette tapes. The  SoundIron team then took these recordings  to the next level, building drum kits, sound effects and other unique samples that will twist your sonic reality. 

Tape’s drum kits offer sounds that are right at home with any track that needs a modern, cinematic touch. The kicks are deep and the snares are tight, which goes to show that a little post-production magic can make anything sound truly epic. 

There are lots of presets for mangled sound effects, ambient electronic noise and other sci-fi soundscapes. You will only find a few tonal instruments, so don’t expect many beautiful pads or atmospheres - with Tape, it’s all about sonic degradation.

For me, I’ll be using Tape mostly for the drums. It’s hard to imagine I could possibly need more drum samples in my arsenal, but I will definitely find uses these kits that are a true hybrid of electronic and cinematic.

Sunna Wehrmeijer is an Emmy nominated Composer based in Los Angeles and originally from the Netherlands. She has made waves in Hollywood both as a composer and as a vocalist, adding her voice to many films, including the Hunger Games. 

Sunna has composed additional music for several Ridley Scott films and her star continues to rise with her own film scores and commercial work.

I recently checked out ORBIT, a deep and innovative synth library from Wide Blue Sound that bends the sonic laws of space and time.

Temple Drums is a percussion library from SoundIron that is full of unique drums with an ancient sound. You’ll find a variety of regional and ethnic drums, all recorded in a stone-walled underground chamber. This environment gives each instrument a crisp, bright sound with lots of presence. 

In addition to bass drums, toms and snares, Temple Drums has a wide range of hand percussion and other one-of-a-kind hits, fills and rolls. There are also sound designed atmospheres, pads and drones that set an ominous tone. 

I used the built in arpeggiator to create this composition, making it easy to quickly find patterns that are tempo locked and ready to go.

Dominic Lewis is a British born composer based in Los Angeles who has made his musical mark on dozens of blockbuster films. Working with some of Hollywood’s top composers, he has written additional music for action movies like X-Men: First Class and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, along with animated hits like Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6.

Pedro has recently worked on the music for the video game "Max Payne 3" and the score for MGM’s reboot of “Robocop”. In 2015, he composed the music for the Netflix original series "Narcos" and is currently working on its second season.
